Nintendo doesn't even need any new games and it'll be ahead of the PS4. Not like the PS4 will ever get any exclusives of its own, so PS4 in Japan is doomed to fail.

Completely the same, Japan is a major market, but its the smallest of the major markets. It only mattered for the PS3 last gen because it was so close, is importance is diminishing.

So go ahead, call the PS4 a flop in Japan, cheer over your "victory"

I will wait and see when the battle actually begins.

Regardless of who wins Japan, it won't change a damn thing.

A lot of people guessed that. Not many people expected the Vita to flop as much as it did, but a lot knew that it had no chance in competing with 3DS.

It's a heated debate, I know.  I just disagree.

One month or two I think

I'm amazed at the amount of faith in the PS4 in here. It's starting to get awkward. Do people not know that it's gone down consistently week over week? Do they also not know that there really isn't much coming out for it in Japan this year?

I can be confident in the fact that it'll be ahead for around least two months. Predicting past that would be stretching it, though.

I think PS4 will get past Wii U, but it really doesn't matter to anyone. I believe Sony has already divided the world this way:

PS4 for the West
PSV for Japan

I don't expect many Japan-centric 1st party games on PS4. I think PS4 is gonna get pretty much only big 1st party Western games and big 3rd party Japanese games. These 3rd party games will most probably be multiplats with XO (if MS manages to save it, that is - otherwise the Japanese might decide to not even bother), but since nobody in Japan has ever heard of something like an Xbox, they will count as PS4 exclusives in Japan.

On the other hand, Sony's 1st party studios in Japan will be pumping Vita exclusives and we already know that all Western Vita studios are working on PS4 games. 3rd parties are starting to flock to Vita in Japan as well and this seems to be the kicker. Vita gives the Japanese developers the lowest development costs out of the three and an install base larger than Wii U and PS4 combined. This is the main focus of Sony in Japan.

On the other hand, Sony has recently started this whole movement of localising all Japanese games and this may bring back the good times of Japanese games in the West. If that happened - all devs would immediately flock to PS4 and it would become a powerhouse in Japan.

In your same logic, it would be deslusionnal to think Wii U will sell like GC... So it's the same.

Wii U cant have 2 mario kart  in it's lifetime, just a bit of common sense will help you to understand it cant compete against all the big system seller multiplatforms and exclusive from 3rd party.

If you want to make a bet, i could bet my VGC profil since it's so much obvious that PS4 will outsell WiiU by a good margin ( >1M at least and this is being pessimistic)
