Forums - Movies & TV - Star Wars 7 - Who will resurect the Sith? DARTH SIDIOUS

Palpatine - Darth Sidious - Emporer.... Ian McDiarmid.

He's one of the few characters, and actual actors, to be in old and new trilogies (all but A New Hope - yes I know he was digitally put in Empire Strikes Back to replace the original actor... but still he's there). However, will he return in Episode 7?

That's impossible you say! He's dead at the end of Return of the Jedi... or is he?

Surely he fell into the abyss of the 2nd Death Star, electrocuted on the way. However, there was no body. There was no true depiction of a dead dark lord of the sith. There was only a screaming fall of light.

How else could the Sith return in Episode 7 without a master to train an apprentice?

I think he will be in Episode 7. Remember he firmly stated he could bring back the dead in Revenge of the Sith.

Its obvious there are many secrets being held close to the chest on this movie currently. We only think we've heard of the full main cast. But I think Ian McDiarmid will reprise a role for Darth Sidious in episode 7 as the one who turns some Jedi to the dark side to create the next major antagonist. What I am not sure of is, if he will be alive or only a reflection of himself as the blue imagry of ghosts we're very familiar with from Return of the Jedi. (hopefully Yoda too)

Well there it is. Your first major plot spoiler from your very own superchunk.

Didn't Skywalker taunted a bit with the Dark during the comics after Episode 6?

A man-child of Leia and Han do in the EU. However, I don't think this script will really retell any of the EU story lines.

Doesn't he comes back in EU? Maybe they'll keep that.

They made a bunch of clones of him in the (now non-canonical) extended universe, if I remember correctly.

Isn't the main rumour that the villain is not actually a Sith?

So maybe if Palpatine does show up, it's doing "a Marvel" by setting up some future instalment

He's only 69, so actually younger than Harrison Ford, so at the very least age shouldn't stop that sort of setup from happening

But I do think he's dead, I know there are tons of clones, but I just don't see any believable way that he survived

Sidious didn't die after ROTJ. According the EU writings, he learned spirit transferring and put himself into cloned bodies. He can totally be in Episode 7

Remember the EU is gone! (well definitely after Return of the Jedi, they've been slightly more ambigious about the rest, so I'm going to continue to regard KOTOR as cannon since it really doesn't matter)

hopefully he's dead, and not revived like in the EU.

that's just dumb if he's alive again. Not that star wars hasn't done dumb things before.
