Forums - Nintendo - Is the Wii U (and gaming in general) too weak for the Pokemon game we all want?

Think about it. Think about how big that game would have to be to actually be satisfying.

EDIT: I never said this was an MMO. It's very much a single player game with some online elements, similar to the way the handhelds handle it. I HATE MMO's.

An open world Pokemon game with real-time third person battles like in Zelda. Unique models for every single Pokemon and forme. (700+) Unique models for all humans. Unique animations for every single one of those Pokemon and humans. Attack animations for every translatable attack/move, some with unique variations amongst different Pokemon. (500+) The entire open world skyrim-esce region would have to be fully rendered. Ai would have to be rendered for every Pokemon on a case by case basis to match not only with their unique species, but their individual natures/personalities. Even if this was just basic Ai programming, it would be complicated. Accurate balancing for 700+ Pokemon. Populating the vast world with the appropriate pokemon ecosystem. Recording unique cries for each Pokemon with species variation and variations depending on the situation. (because bit cries wouldn't work in a game like this) Hopefully voice acting for all NPC's. Music and sound effects for the entire region. All of this running at a servicable resolution and framerate. Nintendo would exept nothing less than 720p 30fps locked. It would be huge. Maybe too huge.

I don't think that a game this huge has ever been created before. Not even Skyrim is this huge. Now this game would have the benefit of not being as graphically demanding as Skyrim, but all this things considered, I'm just not sure the game of our dreams is even possible on PC yet. (this coming from someone with zero PC knowledge) Maybe the reason we haven't gotten the Pokemon game we all want yet is because it simply isn't possible yet.

Thoughts? Please tell me I'm wrong and that the Pokemon game of my dreams is possible somewhere, especially if you understand this sort of thing more than I do.

I can only imagine a MMO Pokemon that would be awesome.

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

I don't know who "we all" are, because I never asked for any of that.

of course is possible, Nintendo just need to do, and I mean never

Why do you think that the entire world has to be rendered all the time? That would be insane!

Lol, I don't think it would be an MMO. It would have online, but it would probably be more like that found in Dark Souls and Journey, where randoms would be dropped into your single player game and you could have co-op with friends of course. But nothing like a real MMO.

I probably worded that wrong. I mean the whole world out would have to be modeled to be big enough to fill a 700+ Pokemon population plus and entire human population, on top of being dense and filled with interesting environments. I don't mean that it would all have to be running at the same time.

We only need 151 Pokémons.

No way, just make a decent console RPG pokemon, everybody will be happy, they can make a MMO too, but it will not change my life.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Sounds horrible when anyone advocates this, I hope they never waste the resources trying to do it.
