im still surpsised how 1080p and EVEN 30fps is not a standard.....wii u gets tons of games that are 1080p and 60fps and some 720p and 60fps....

its all how the hardware is used.

I think you mean "wiiu gets tons of games at 720p / 30-60fps and a few 1080p60fps with heavy frame rate drops". Source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=736354

really, people that support wiiu shouldn't talk about specs because wiiu clearly can't hold much. Stick with your gameplay innovations and funny games, but don't talk about specs EVER!!

That said, 720p and no antialiasing are no big issues in a racing game. Sure, when you look at screenshots or look another player over the shoulder, you can see some jaggies... but when you are behind the wheel yourself, you don't have time to look for jaggies or other minor distractions. And obstacles on the race track aren't THAT small that the resolution would make a big difference.

As i expected, MK8 is 720p no AA

"Starting from the top, then, there has been a surprising amount of confusion surrounding the resolution of the game with some sources even suggesting a native 1080p presentation. We can finally put that rumour to rest right here and confirm that Mario Kart 8 instead operates at what is effectively the console's standard 1280x720. Of course, considering the quality of the visuals, this can hardly be considered a disappointment especially when other developers are struggling to hit 1080p consistently on more powerful hardware. What is surprising, however, is the complete omission of anti-aliasing in any form. At the very least, Nintendo has previously utilised a basic edge-smoothing algorithm across its Wii U titles and such a feature could have demonstrably improved image quality without a serious performance hit. As it stands, however, we're left with a heavily aliased presentation filled with obvious stair-stepping and pixel-crawling artefacts throughout most scenes. Busier areas can even result in a loss of detail to the point of reducing visibility."

Framerate is not perfect 60 and hdoes have some stuttering but it's not too bad.

Well that does kinda suck, to be honest.

Meh, Batman Arkham City was 720p with no AA on PS3/360 and I don't recall that ruining the game.

As for 59fps vs 60fps, you'd have to be a Jedi to notice that.

True enough. I just wish Nintendo would push the power of their own hardware, I know the Wii U is more capable than that. Still performance wise 59fps is more solid than almost every game out there. I'm still happy to an extent.

Discussing Nintendo Wii U and comparing it to XBOX ONE or PS4 is just nonsense. Nintendo fans are going to still enjoying their great franchaises and creativity, but there is no contest in hardware. The XBOX ONE is just slower than PS4 period. The GPU of PS4 is known to be 50% faster. And the PC has the benefit of choise. You can have a slower PC than PS4, or one that makes the PS4 looks like Poo, performance speaking. A Radeon R9 295 X2 that costs 1500 USS and has 500W of power has more than 5 times the PS4 teraflops.
The only thing that i would have liked is next gen to be powerfull enough to run games with good textures and lighting at 1080p and 60 fps. Seems that consoles came short this time. But they have to be on a power envelope. In 2006, 7th gen, there were no graphic cards consuming 250 W. Now every high end graphic card consumes more than that and a PS4 or XBOX dont even get to 200 with all the aditional hardware.

I too wish Nintendo would push Wii U harder, but hey, at least we have Shin'en for that.. :p

All I'm saying is Monolith Soft should change their name to Monolith Hard. ;P

XD Well played.

Monolith are a first party Nintendo dev now, and I expect "X" to push the hardware more than any other Nintendo title we've seen so far.

Shin'en may yet take the technical crown on the system though, as they did on Wii. Their upcoming Art of Balance looks great and employs some impressive tech.

Oh yeah, graphically and texturally that is a pretty impressive game, I'm really looking forward to their Fast Racing Neo debut.
