Forums - Microsoft - Ryse Son Of Rome still the best looking console game?

"Originally touted as a solid 30fps experience, Ryse misses the mark more often than we'd like with frame-rates often fluctuating between 26-28fps and the most challenging situations even seeing the frame-rate drop into the teens."

Still looks gorgeous. 1080p/60fps being a seperate issue, X1 can do some beautiful high poly games.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

@fps dominator --- i played the entire capaign for ryse twice and i never experienced teh framerate into the teens. The framerate only dropped by miniscule amount during cutscenes. Apart from that the gameplay was a very smooth experience for me

Same thing here. I have also played through the game and did not notice any real fps drop. Dropping to the teens would have been like a slide show. I call BS on who ever made that claim. That scene in the video is probaly the most resource heavy scene in the game and you can see that its plays smooth all the way through.

Well, your not an objective website created for the main purpose of doing game performance analysis.

3d world looks better than ryse and MK8 looks better than 3d world.
Mk8 wins

quote b4 edit.

What edit? Stay true that it is the best looking console game this gen thus far. I don't care what system and gigs and ram.

I don't really give two fucks if someone doesn't like it.

@DrHenry --- You don't need to be website created for the purpose of performance analysis to know if the frameratre drop to the teens. ANy gamer who is passionate in playing would clearly see and experience a framerate drop like that. Dropping to the teens is a huge framerate drop which is noticeable. Skyrim framerate on ps3 prior to final patch had framerate to the teens and even worse. Ryse never ever drops to that level. Since alot gamers here who played the game ,, haven't experience such a drop,, then chances are the sites who had that,, probably encountered a bug.

No offense, but you could've been lucky. Considering DF's job is to do this analysis and right articles on it, I'm assured they have tested multiple cases and the framerate drops they experienced are an average.

Those saying Ryse "never was" are being a little unfair to it i think. You can't really proclaim either Ryse or Killzone as the definitive best looking launch title, GG and Crytek went down pretty different paths for what they wanted to prioritize.

Ryse for example had considerably better characters models and animations (perhaps excluding Maya's facial animations), a more advanced AA method (fuck FXAA, y u do dat guerrilla :c) and more complex geometry thanks to it's more linear nature.

Killzone on the other hand was running at a fair higher performance level than Ryse (1080p/30 - 40fps, so on average about 75% - 80% higher than Ryse's 900p/26 - 32fps), was often rendering more open areas (such as the forest level), and often utilized some seriously stunning textures.

Overall Killzone was certainly the more resource intensive of the two, but Ryse made better use of what it was given. With all of that in mind i don't think you can really say one is more of an achievement than the other, outside of general aesthetics preference.

inFamous beats the crap out of both though

Zekkyou I always find myself agreeing with your posts! You keep me sane around here bro

I think infamous wins it hands down.

The fact that infamous is open world is mind boggling. One of the few games to actually deliver in terms of promised visuals.

Most games have been downgraded to shit.

Infamous SS certainly plays better - it really doesn't look better. Then again, Sucker Punch didn't set out to make a visual showpiece, whereas thats how Ryse was intended.

Probably true but it still looks better than Ryse.

inFAMOUS second son.
