You do know that voice commands are possible without Kinect. Amazon and DirecTV do it via a tiny speaker in the remote. Heck, even PS4 does it via headset (and I agree, it was a great feature in Tomb Raider). So, all MS needs to do by June is issue an update so you can control your XOne via headset, and you can have that amazing feature and save $100.

As far as motion control, unless you like dancing, nothing is lost. MS had 4 years to come up with a game for it, and they've only come up with a ton of shovelware casual crap...

The hypocrisy in this rant is extremely prevalent.

Worse, is the fact that your "despair" of the Kinect being unbundled is evident of your complete and utter disregard for the potential of the device.

If the Kinect was truly as innovative and revolutionary as you claim then it would not need to be bundled in and it would have the abiity to stand on its own legs rather than a tagalong for MS's current gen console.

If the Kinect was truly as game changing as you claim, Developers wouldn't need it to be forced on the consumers to include its features.

Yeah...I'd agree if the Kinect had turned out to be worthwhile...or if people wanted it for gaming. Lots of gaming fads have come and gone, it's not the end of the world.

Oh, and they didn't say that 80% of Xbox One owners use it daily. They said 80% of Xbox One owners use it actively. That's very different.

I waited for something like this. I heard the same rant when they did the DRM 180.

The fun thing is though that the majority thinks they won something and isn't that what democracy is all about? ;)

Think of it as a positive.

Now developers will have to make something truly great to sell Kinect, instead of just phoning it in. No 'since everyone has the thing, people might as well buy a game for it' excuse. If they can come up with a must have game for Kinect, people will buy the standalone version.

Anyway I'm glad there is the option now. I don't like talking to my tv, pc, or whatever when I'm relaxing at night time. The removal hopefully means that the OS will now also be optimized for controller use. Plus the way it's going I'm looking out for a FH2 bundle for 399.

The system was rushed out a year early. No Kinect games was/is pitiful. Have to have a reason for it game wise. Had it launched with Sports it would have been a whole lot better. MS is to blame. I'd hoped they rode the storm out myself tho.

Touchscreens and mice turned out to be game changers instead of fads, because they proved to be immediate and reliable ways of input.

Voice and motion commands do have the potential to be aswell, but I feel the technology just isn't quite there yet, because even if those work 90% of the time it's not enough. They have to be extremely reliable, because these types of commands aren't repeatable anywhere near as quickly as the press of a button.

When navigating menus that might not matter too much, but in a game that's crucial.

Personally I'm a huge fan of body motion based games since the first Dance Dance Revolution that's why I'm aware how extremely frustrating it is if you feel your input device is buggy.
