Open World games (mostly action adventure but RPGs and FPSes included) I can see taking the throne this generation. They've already become more popular in the past few years with mega hits like Skyrim and more franchises such as Metal Gear are going open world, so I see that trend continuing.

As much as i would love for it to be platformers or RPGs (Jrpg,WRPG and SRPGs included) i fear it will be a messy FPS market all over again.
