Forums - Gaming - Capcom Financial Report: Monster Hunter 4 sells 4.1 million copies, Dead Rising 3 at 1.2M so far

Capcom has revealed Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 sold 1.2 million copies as part of its annual financial report.

The report, which covers the fiscal year ending March 31, 2014, revealed Monster Hunter 4 was the stand-out performer however in a year that saw both sales and profits rise.

The company revealed Monster Hunter 4 has enjoyed "explosive popularity", shifting 4.1 million units to become Capcom's sixth best-selling game of all time. It's set to launch in the west next year with additional content, which is sure to push the figure even higher. Resident Evil Revelations was the company's third game to sell over a million copies last year.

Other strong performers include Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, which enjoyed "firm sales", while Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies "basically achieved" its target and DuckTales Remastered experienced an "over-performance".

Less successful was Lost Planet 3, which had sales "below expectations", which the company opted to blame on "intensifying competition in the European and US markets."

All-in-all sales rose 8.6 percent to ¥102 billion ($1 billion), while profit rose 15.9 percent to ¥3.4 billion ($33.8 million). Looking forward, Capcom plans to release online-focused titles on both PC and other platforms, with Deep Down also due to arrive in Japan and, if we're lucky, elsewhere in the world too.

It's good to see MH4 doing well, but it's still not close to the best-selling game in the series. In time, it may surpass Freedom 3, but that's about it.

You wrote Dead Rising 2 in the title, F0X ^_^

If they stopped making exclusives and put all Dead Rising and Monster Hunter games across all consoles they would be in an even better position.

Lost Planet 3's failure makes me very happy!

damn, Monstser Hunter is really undertracked. I foresee the game at least moving 500k copies in NA.

Yet they are spending so much into mobile... I wish they would just make more console/handheld games damn it!!!

Pity. I'm boycotting them until they start seriously supporting Vita - that means a regular Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, though a Dragon's Dogma game would also do it for me. They should stop making exclusive games in general.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

That 4.1 million number is shipped + digital downloads. Keep that in mind with new software.

It may need some adjustment, but it's definitely within 10%.

MH4 selling like water, so let's make a mobile division

Capcom logic

Now how about some speedy Ace Attorney 6 localization once that releases in Japan, Capcom!
