I assume they make a loss because of the tablet, and i've been saying the tablet was a horrible idea since the beginning ~_~. If the casual market wants a tablet they'll go out and buy a tablet, but the Wii U is a tablet with a brick connected to it that loses its portability aspect so it doesn't make much sense to me.

They saw Sony and Microsoft last gen swimming in money* due to third party support and thought "we'll do the same!". *facepalm*

* for those who need help, yes, I'm being ironic there.

That pad, which is not a tablet, is the best thing about the Wii U. That's not the problem and never was. Nintendo's problem is perception. They do a terrible job of changing that "Nintendo is for kids" nonsense. The Wii U is a good system which brings lots of possibilities that just isnt being tapped into. All the money they made with the Wii yet they have so much game drouth. They should have hired a ton of developers with all that money at least 3 to 4 years ago developing games for the U. It's just like they were totally unprepared. They said they wanted to capture the core crowd but did very little in the development and PR department and that is the problem. Not the Wii U its self. That's why you keep hearing a lot of people who don't own one saying its crap while the people who do say they love it. As well as a lot of people who thought it was crap love it after buying.

Um actually Nintendo was swimming in even more money than Sony and Microsoft.

It's more like "We can put anything out there and people will buy it!" attitude.

I think nintendo needs to hire some anthropologists and information scientists who actually know what people and society want. The tablet was a bad idea, because everyone already has a tablet, or if they want one they want one thats not gigantic and something that they can use outside of the wii u environment. The vita (if it had triggers and l3/r3) would be better off than the gamepad. Nintendo also has so much ip yet they lack innovation and substance which imo Sony has but is missing the ip power of nintendo. Besides that i think nintendo need to actually compete with sony/microsoft on feature and hardware and get back all 3rd party support. Nintendo has enough money to combat microsoft/sony but are failing to and it's causing a decline of the value of their ip's. If only nintendo went 3rd party or merged with playstation, then it would be a mix of innovation, hardware, established ip's, the destruction of xbox, and a golden era of gaming like during the ps2 era.

Again....like a 1800's Samurai unable to cope with the rise of gunpowder.
