Forums - Sales - WiiU forecast to sell (to consumer) under 10m LTD by the end of the year.

I don't think there will be another Nintendo console in the traditional sense. The idea that they could release an iterative upgrade on what the Wii U is for late 2015 (about 18 months away) is laughable, they can barely release current Wii U games as is, releasing an new platform with entirely new games that would probably have to be an upgrade on Wii U would be impossible for Nintendo.

What I think you will get in late 2015 is a new handheld that can play Wii U-esque engines and handle ports from the system perhaps. That handheld may be able to play games on the TV too (directly or perhaps via a hub).

If they abandon it after 3 years on the market I'll probably just go back to exclusive PC gaming.

So new console in 2015? They've got to be putting production in overdrive with these results. I used to think WiiU could beat the GCN but now? Maybe 15m.

Let's be honest here, they made the WiiU and the jump from SD to HD knocked them so far off kilter that the console has lost it's opportunity to pull big numbers, if they release a new console, a powerhouse is one thing it will not be.

So what else could it be? gimmicky and pray for another lightning strike Wii occurance?, seems to me more like they'll let the WiiU die a slow death and concentrate on the handheld market and quality of life services

Even though I'm a huge Nintendo fan, if they did this I'd be very hesitant to ever buy another Nintendo home console. I do think they'll stick with it at least through 2016

Not only that, I hope they release massive amounts of quality software towards the end of the Wii U lifecycle (ala PS3) in order to establish consumer confidence in their next console. It'd be a win win for me.

I will see after the sales of MK8

Well. At least sega fans sort of got their dreamcast 2 :/

Aside from sales WiiU and Dreamcast aren't even slighty comparable. Dreamcast was a revolutionary console ahead of it's time. WiiU is... not.

They'll both have genuinely brilliant game libraries that most people will never get to play - sad :c

yeah i agree most people wont get to play mk8 sb4 x b2 zu and whatevers from e3
