You guys should read Digital Foundry's analysis on Driveclub. What the game is able to do technically is amazing. To think that a technical analysis article does a much better job at reviewing the game than an actual review is mind boggling. Heck, the guys that did the analysis straight out said that they enjoyed DC more than the person who did the review.

EDIT: GameChaserBE already pointed this out, but Sony is delaying PS+ Driveclub to ease server traffic. Could it be because more people wanted to get the PS+ version than Evolution anticipated?

What do you mean more people wanted a PS+ version than anticipated?

Sony knows how many PS+ users they have in the US. My guess - 2 million. They should have been prepared to allow 2 million downloads then. It's not like there was a huge unexpected surge in subscriptions Monday that they destroyed the servers.

It is evident that Sony continues to struggle in the online portion of their service, people falsely assumed tgat paying for online will fix that, but obviously there is a lack of competence on the PSN side of the business.

I seriously doubt that the reason is to force more people to pay for a full game. It is more of a combination of poor server management and developer's ineptitude to provide a working PS+ version of the game. My guess is that when they were cutting away content from a full game they cut a puece that was essential for the game to function.

Driveclub was a mess from day one, and even a 11 month delay seems to not have helped. I just hope future Sony games are handled better than this fiasco, because I'm really looking forward to some of them.

Minecraft PlayStation Vita Edition is releasing on October 15th in Europe.

sucks that we have to wait until Bloodborne. Ah well, it'll be worth it.

To answer your question, maybe I didn't clarify myself that well. I meant that perhaps Evolution did not expect so many people opting to download PS+ Driveclub. However, this is probably not the case since apparently, the server problems came from a lot of "social interaction". I should also add that I did not say that these server problems were a ploy to make people pay for the full game.

And yeah, PSN has been spotty lately and Sony really needs to straighten that out before even more people buy PS4s in holiday season. Evolution did a good job polishing up the game itself, but seemed to forget that this game requires good servers in order for people to take advantage of the social features. I hope Sony's other 1st parties take this as a lesson to properly prepare for launch if their games are very online centric. At least The Order: 1886 won't be having this problem...
