Forums - Nintendo - What is the Problem with Nintendo?

There could be a lot of reasons. Bug testing, numerous design iterations. Spacing between similar titles. Development of new engines and jazz because a lot of their games only have 1-2 iterations per console generation. Smaller teams. The fact that each of their internal studios is actually responsible for a number of franchises, usually. A number of those things could play a factor, potentially.

dont really agree with the OP but ill play devil's advocate to people who are saying that Ninty games are of higher quality. Not disagreeing BUT considering the games Ninty make are less technically demanding than say teh Skyrims or ACs of the world, thats not a big accomplishment.

Nintendo games ARE thecnically demanding AND when they take their time, it's because of game quality. nintendo cares about making good games before good looking games.

quality...

High quality and each iteration in each franchise is usually very different from the last. And 3 years is pretty standard development time for a AAA title.

I honestly think Nintendo should do a few more direct sequels. Like with Zelda, Skyward Sword should have just used TP's art style and been finished much quicker. Then mix things up for the next console. Just like SMG2 was done in 2.5 years since it was using many assets from SMG.

I think you should have used a better example than Skyrim. To this day, the game still suffers from glitches.

They need their time to make quality titles like Game and Wario, Wii Party U, Other M, and have to polish extra long so they can't just pump out game after game. Please understand.

As sarcastically as that's put, that's a great point. Those are probably (certainly?) games that they cranked out quickly.

The quality gap between their core series and the 2nd-tier games is huge.

Super Mario 3d World is outstanding, along with basically every main DK/Zelda/Kart/etc. And then you have the others like you mentioned which are dramatically less deep/polished/expansive.

Ya I bet Metroid Prime, F-Zero, Starfox fans are pretty annoyed.

Id buy a WiiU today if I heard they were making a next gen Fzero.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Standards... Nintendo has them.

It has been awhile. Sadly if those franchises have started hitting the sack then there's almost certainly no way I'm ever going to see another Custom Robo...

Why do Nintendo games typically take 3-5 years to make? There is no logical reason other than the Devs that work for Nintendo are simply innefficient.

Nintendo games tend to be similar to past games are well so all they really have to do is up the resolution and create new maps. A game like Mario Kart should take half a year to make, not 3 years. Completely unacceptable!

Games like Gears of war, Uncharted, fable, assassins creed, halo, cal of duty, etc all take 1.5-2 years to make despite having state of the art engines, complex game worlds, online modes, complex dialogue etc

If Microsoft/Sony were in charge of Nintendo franchises I am conviced they could pump out games 3X times as fast as Nintendo. You would think Nintendo would come out with first party games quicker having very few/no third party games.

One reason... Perfectionists.

Nintendo have extremely high standards for the games they release, and to be honest it works for them.

People are saying look at the likes of skyrim as an example or a higher standard game, but to be brutally honest that game is riddled with glitches in both graphics and gameplay.
