Forums - Sony Discussion - Driveclub runs at 1080p 30fps

theres plenty of arcade racers out there at 30fps that feel really smooth, best of both worlds here, its not a sim.. theres plenty of driveclub footage out there, did framerate look like a problem in any of those videos?

That's odd, don't typically see racing games at 30fps.

It's pretty common for arcade racers. Both Need for Speed and Forza Horzon were 30fps i believe.

In this game they explicitely took care of input lag and they did a great job. Let's see how DC will turn out.

eeeehhhhh....I'd rather a lower resolution and 60 fps in a racing game. I also would rather them lower the quality of the environment if that meant 1080p @ 60 fps.

This.  Racing games tend to be very fast moving and benefit from 60 fps.  Strange decision by the team if you ask me.

At least we know it will have eye candy.

Should of been developing Motorstorm 4....

yea, I would have prefered Motorstorm aswell, maybe a reimagination of the franchise without circuits but instead large highly interactive (terrain deformation/destruction etc) maps you can choose your own path in to reach certain points

I guess they're not serious about sim-racer crowd. 900p/60 with slightly reduced effect would have been a better solution for a Sim.

Ruh-roh.......racing game 30fps on the beast known as PS4?

Let the compromising comments and justifying begin (have allready seen some ;) )

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I figured as much. Need for Speed ran at 30 fps and regardless of that, it played well. It appears that Evolution is more concerned about pushing the graphics in the game rather than amping the framerate to 60 fps. I'm a bit disappointed that Driveclub isn't going to be 60 fps, but at least we know that it isn't because that Evolution can't make it run at 60 fps, but rather they are prioritizing other aspects of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if "Driveclub 2" runs at 60 fps because by that time, Evolution will be more familiar with the PS4's architecture.

Wait... Was this game initially supposed to be free for PS+ users?
I doubt this will be true come October. Maybe a discount, but free? Wow if true.

Are these types of comments really needed? :/ Did you at no point while typing that think "Wow, this is an unoriginal and unintelligent comment that will add nothing to the discussion. Perhaps i shouldn't post it?"

It's this kind of BS that's fueling the resolution wars and the constant back and forth of X1 and PS4 fans like they're 6 year olds arguing over whose piece of cake is bigger...
