Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One isn't Number One, but that does not equal 'Doing Terribly.'

As of the 19th there have been 16 weeks since the start of the year. The Xbox One has outsold the PS4 in the U.S. 4 times according to VGCharts.

That's not frequently. It certainly doesn't help your point in the OP that the Xbox One is being outsold in it's only strong market 75% of the time.

So one fourth of the time isn't frequently? If you crashed your car one fourth of the times you drove it, you don't think that's frequently.

And was my point 'Xbox One is beating PS4?' Or was it that 'Not beating the PS4 doesn't mean the Xbox One is doing "horribly?"' Because I'm pretty sure that I was never arguing that the Xbox One is beating PS4.

That's a really bad example. If you crashed your car 1 in every 50 times you drove it that would be frequent.

If a sports team losses 75% of there games they are not winning frequently.

Even if you don't compare the Xbox One to the PS4 it's not selling that well. In the first three months of 2014 it's down by 150K to the Xbox 360's first three months of 2006.

In the first two months of 2014 the Xbox One is down 15k on the PS3s first two months of 2007 (I left out march for the sake of the Xbox One)

It launched very well, no doubt. But it has failed to maintain it's momentum.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I'll just repeat: And was my point 'Xbox One is beating PS4?' Or was it that 'Not beating the PS4 doesn't mean the Xbox One is doing "horribly?"' Because I'm pretty sure that I was never arguing that the Xbox One is beating PS4.

Don't see why it has to be so black and white.

X1 profitable out the gate (most likely 360 profit is helping) and is outselling 360 in the same timeframe. And this is before MS REALLY gets their act together and releases globally and unbundles kinect. Xbox doing just fine.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

It is not doing too bad, but as a whole everything is doing fairly poorly according to Vgchartz. PS3 would regularly be above 150k and 360 above 100k and we have neither PS4 or XB1 that high. So I guess if we go by Vgchartz you could say both consoles are actually not doing well, and things will get worse in May until Watch Dogs.

Was this something you couldn't post on a video game forum without having stuffed down your throat, or was it just something that some people were saying? You can't post about Xbox One without your thread being derailed. Mention a new game, and brace yourself for an outpouring of 'da power of da cloud' idiocy.

Don't ever believe that Xbox and Nintendo fans were anymore civil about the PS3 losing than PS fans are now about the X1 and Wii U losing (or "losing" in the X1s case). ;)

The last place you wanted be at in 2007/2008 if you were a PS fan, was a gaming forum, it was brutal back then.

I would have supported you Playstation fans! Only no Helix back than :<

You aren't saying that, but at the same time you're using XB1 "winning" weeks against the PS4 and using the term "frequent", which is what seems to be bothering some people. I personally don't see that chart that was posted as frequent but that's my interpretation and experience of the word frequent.

I agree with you though that the sales of the XB1 are by no means terrible. I won't speculate as to whether MS is happy or not with the sales. I do believe that it will sell much better once the price comes down. That's what I'm holding out for.

If you want to prove my ACTUAL point wrong, how about a show of civility, understanding, and community from the fellow video game enthusiasts? Instead, I'm getting arguments like 'In 2007, people were mean about PS3!' Big deal. In 2007, Hannah Montana was still on TV. Make like Miley Cyrus and grow up. (Not in as bad of a way as she did, though).

You are the one who asked if I recall correctly.

PS3 hate vs XO hate is not even comparable.

Search "dissapointment timeline" on Bing and Google.

Any one who was thought to like the PS3 over the 360 was instantly labelled a troll. Conversely, I think XO's negative press is barely 5% of the flac they deserve. I've argued this hundreds of times, that MS doesn't get enough criticism and it shows. Clearly, they have the most money and money = potential. I think a good reason PlayStation is an international brand and Xbox is mainly a US brand, is because Sony originates from Japan, it has to become international to reach the U.S, meanwhile MS sitting on top of Redmond doesn't have to worry about that.

If you're arguing that what happened to PS fans in 2007 is irrelevant, then  you can't be a hypocrit and say it matters now.

Math. If Xbox One outsells the PS4 in weeks one and two by ten thousand, but PS4 outsells Xbox One in weeks three and four by eleven thousand each week, PS4 has one the month even if Xbox One outsold it two of the four weeks.

...

Also its #Math, not just Math

Didnt read all the posts as in a bit of a rush.

But when people say 'XBox One is selling terribly' I dont assume they means because its selling badly in itself, as its sold very respectable numbers. The problem and what I assume is meant by that sentence is by how by the disparity is between that and its direct competition the PS4. The XBone has been selling well, but it has a pretty wide gap between how much that sold compared to its competion, which is bad for them.

Approx 3 mil is not a wide gap. It's nothing a black friday blockbuster exclusive cant easily erode. At current percentages, it looks bad but the raw numbers are not bad at all

Yes, it is doing well, but if Sony sells 50-60% more than Microsoft, their hold in gaming that they carved out with the 360 will be in risk.

What do you mean by erode?

Cause without PS4 supply issues and XB1 super price cut game bundles,  that gap is only going to grow.
