i always found Iwata to be a really interesting game CEO since, unlike most, he started off as a programmer and worked his way up. as he has said before, he feels like he is in the fortunate position that he knows the inner workings of games and game designs very well, which is why he holds Iwata Asks.

To bad that knowledge has not been used to get better schedule for relased games.

People out there must know some seriously insecure people, then. You're not the first to have said this.

It's true, most teenagers and adults aren't going to want to play on a gaming handheld in public. At my university I've seen only 2 people who have pulled out a 3DS and played it in public.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

All replies you make at this point are you essentially giving Rol license to school you more than he already has. I'd ditch before things go further south if i were you

I  agree with reggin_bolas and Padib that the Nintendo handhelds are mostly owned in played by children. I doubt any adult in my office would be caught dead playing a Nintendo handheld at work.

People out there must know some seriously insecure people, then. You're not the first to have said this.

Now, now no need too throw insults at a large group of adults as that makes no sense. Maybe like with most things people do not buy, maybe most of them just do not want one. Hmmmmmm?

Nothing wrong with not wanting one at all, no. But saying they don't want one and saying they *could* want one but would be too ashamed to play in public are two different things. The latter is what i would call insecure, the first is certainly just a matter of preference.

Okay quite a bit of BS going on in this thread.

First off Pachter is just as valid of a resource as VGChartz is. They both state their opinions of the gaming industry. VGChartz states its opinion on sales numbers, Pachter states his business opinion on game businesses and the decisions they make. Opinions will never be 100% accurate and if you are using vgchartz and are bashing Michael Pachter then slap yourself in the head you hypocrite. They are opinions made from the perspective of what would make shareholders the most money the fastest...

Next someone said that Reggie did a bad job in NoA... I would hardly say that Reggie has had that much control over the situation seeing as how Nintendo has been telling Reggie how to run NoA from Japan. He can hardly be blamed if Japanese games haven't sold well in America. If you want their games to keep coming over here then you need to buy them when they do.

Uhh..what? VGChartz makes estimations on sales numbers based on the information they have from retailers. That's not an opinion, it's an educated guess. In no way is that similar to Michael Pachter stating his opinion on a business. Even if they were the same, a person isn't a hypocrite for valuing the opinions of one person/entity over that of another.

You think pachters sources are any less viable than vgchartz?  I'd say he probably has far more reliable sources than VGChartz does.  He gets paid thousands of dollars from real businesses for his opinion, show me what VGChartz gets for its?

People don't like him because he states his opinions from a business perspective, not the consumers perspective.  His opinions are very accurate, people just don't like them because they're what EA and Activision follow.

Aaah, I see, your isolated experience is all the proof needed..

Pssst: Most teenagers and adults are not going to want to play videogames anywhere, in public or in private... SHOCKER!!!!!

Anyone who was reponsible for the marketing campaings of nitnendo in america for the last 5 years should not put in charge of anythging.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Isolated experience? Alright bury your head in the sand if you wish, that doesn't make my point any less true. A vast majority of people refuse to play handhelds in public, they would rather pull out a phone and play candy crush.

Of course it's true, but not based on your random comment about your school. Looking at the sales numbers and comparing it to the population of the world, it's easy to see that the vast majority of people don't play video games at all, regardless of platform or location, yes, even regardless of their age.
