Aww come on. I'd gone so long without hearing Pachter's name.
But I do think they need some new voices in the upper echelons. That doesn't require firing Iwata, however. I think that'd be treating him as a scapegoat.

Why should Iwata be replaced? It's not his fault if Nintendo is in the state it's in.

Nintendo has no responsibility in this. None at all. It's all the fault of these biased third party devs!

Yes, blame those biased third-party devs for Nintendo being in massive crippling debt with no future for survival in sight.

Quite possibly the very lowest of human detritus, they are.

EDIT: Edited for those who are sensitive to phrases such as "fucking cunts"

As much as I love Nintendo.. but of course it's Iwata's / Nintendo's fault.
They made mistakes. Many many marketing mistakes. They could not even add all the minor 3DS features to the WiiU, even though they would improve the system. I bought a WiiU but I feel like they left the system pretty much in the shadows compared to th 3ds.

Erm... Ok. Since some people can't read sarcasm and don't seem to know what is going on elsewhere in the forums, I'll point it out here: My original comment here was sarcastic.

Carry on.

1. Ugh... can't people express opinions without getting violent with their language?

2. I'm not sure if your being sarcastic but with bad versions of games (buggy, no multiplayer, horrible frame rate due to laziness, etc) and massive amounts of delays third party companies could very easily be tied with the conspiracy to destroy Nintendo.

3. Nintendo has an enormous amount of reserve cash. They could easily survive another 2-4 home console failures before they ran out of money AT LEAST.

They should hire Reggie, it might make Nintendo less old fashioned and in touch with Western market needs which is where attention needs to be.

My 8th gen collection

Even a broken clock is right twice a day!

That said, it's hard to tell how much of Nintendo's problem is Iwata and how much is...everything else going on behind the scenes. It's possible that a very large chunk of the company's employee base is working against Nintendo's best interests - and they might not even know it! I'm sure many folks at Nintendo thought a Wind Waker remake was an awesome idea.

I don't know that Nintendo needs to get rid of Iwata and I'm not really sold on Reggie. However, I do think Nintendo needs their own Yoshida. They need someone who holds a good deal of power and influence and understands BOTH the Japanese and the western aspects of the business. Nintendo is solidly a Japanese company, they don't really need a western CEO, but they do need a significant western presence in management or they're going to continue to stumble around blindly.

With Nintendo selling 300 miliion hardware units in the last ten years, i would say that Iwata has done a pretty decent job.
