Forums - Gaming Discussion - Ethomaz's Dismantling the Myths: Amazon.com's Best Sellers is Not Accurate to the Predict Overall Hardware Sales in US (Checking: Accuracy with Software)

Amazon also works if you want to see how good and how bad PS4 X1 are doing in Germany for example.
Just checking it you can see X1 does better in france vs PS4 then Germany, while Uk is evenishh.

You misunderstood my english.

Call of Duty Ghosts on 360 and PS3 outsold Just Dance 2014's Wii Version.

Which was the only Just Dance to sell anything.

Where? Not based in NPD or Amazon.

NPD

Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PC)
Just Dance 2014 (Wii, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PS3, PS4)

Amazon

Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4) - Wii and PC not in the TOP100.
Just Dance 2014 (Wii, Xbox 360) 0 The others version was not in the TOP100.

All Cod > All Just Dance... except Wii Just Dance > 360 CoD.

You are just giving me more proof.

Just to point for of the Just Dance case...

Wii Just Dance 2014 >800K
PS3 Call of Duty: Ghosts <800K

There is no 360 CoD leaked by Creamsugar but you see here PS3 CoD was below Wii Just Dance.

Like I said software is accurate too but it hard to make the comparison due the multiples versions/SKUs... now for HARDWARE it proved 100% accurate for now.

I'm trying hard to find a month that didn't works... I didn't cared to check software but even the JustDance and CoD example by @Kasz216 are accurate.

November was the only excepction in the hardware front for now due the fact PS4 was unavaiable in Amazon in November... preorder in the previous months and it was charting in the TOP20.

Just pulls up a blank screen for me... and besides, considering recent events it's not like gaf leakers have been shown to be particularly reliable.

Outside which... You don't think COD 360 was >800K.

Also,  not one SKU in December was a 3DS.

What piece of hardware sold the most in december 2013?

3DS
Less People bought any one SKU of 3DS then they did... The Command and Conquer Ultimate Eddition for PC that was released in October of 2012?

It's sitting right there at 66.  Most due to some huge amazon sale.

Then you've got Lego ahead of Skylanders in NPD, but on Amazon Skylanders SKU's placing ahead of Lego ones on average... etc.

From a statistical perspective you'd be better off with a random sampling of a couple thousand people who shopped at retailers at roughly the same percentage as the population then you would having the exact Amazon data for all their customers...

I know, because I sort of actually used to do this kind of stuff.

3DS is the case I said there are just too many SKUs... Amazon didn't grouped like PS4 and Xbone.

About the others games examples... I think you could be right (I didn't checked) but the Amazon is pretty accurate to hardware.

Hell, looking at Janurary's 2014 numbers you posted.

A Brothers Tale for Windows is sitting at 12.

I think that says it all.
