Forums - Gaming - PS4 vs Xbox One Games Chart from November to May Shows a Striking Difference

Yup, Xbox is late to the indy scene, but I expect them to start catching up this summer, also, I know the chart doesn't say it because it isn't officially anounced yet, but Super Time Force is suposed to come to Xbox One around May-June according to Cappy.

I think the reason a lot of people online say that "ps4 has no games" is because it doesn't have as many big games as the Xbox One right now.  When most gamers think about games, they think about the big AAA titles rather than the smaller indy titles.

While I think indy games are great for filling the gap between bigger releases, Sony still needs to get on the ball and start anouncing some of thier big fall titles if they have any.  So far all we know about is the order wich is likely comming aroud september-october.

X1:  AAA exclusives (6)

DR3

Forza 5

Ryse

Killer Instinct

PvZ: Garden Warfare

Titanfall

PS4 AAA exclusives (4)

Killzone

Knack

Infamous Second Son

MLB The Show (comming soon)

It isn't really a huge difference, but a Driveclub release date would be nice to get from Sony, because other than that and The Order we don't know of any other exclusives planned for this year.  My gut feeling is that they have one more that they are waiting to anounce at E3 (from Sony Bend).  Lets hope I'm Right.

Wait so plants vs zombies counts as AAA but resogun doesnt?

Please explain that one to me....

Also Ryse and Knack got reviewed badly. Simply put they are ba games...a lot of the indie games on PS4 are really good games.

My thing is this dont bother making the distinction between whats indie and whats not. Make the distinction between good and bad games.

It really depends on what you would consider as AAA games, but I do know that resogun is a 15$ downloadable game for the PS4 while Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is a 40$ Xbox One/360 game that is sold at retail.

PS4 indies are like 360 arcade titles.

360 indie games are like 99 percent unplayable crap made in one night by 10 year olds. They don't have achievements, only a very few are decent to good.

PS4 indies are games like Pinball Arcade and Mercenary Kings. Quality games from real development teams. They have trophies and a professional development quality.

When xbox fans rag on "indie station" I honestly think they are failing to realize these are not the same things. Part of the most important thing on 360 was a constant supply of XBLA games. It's just not realistic to have awesome AAA retail releases every week. I'm lucky if two retail games I want come out in a month. Arcade/Indie games keep me occupied in between these spaces. Some of 360's best games were Arcade titles and in the end of the PS4's life I'm willing to bet it will have been the same situation.

I just don't honestly understand how anyone can so easily dismiss having so many extra games available regardless of your console of choice. If they don't appeal to you that's fine but that doesn't mean they don't appeal to other people.

Good thing I have reading comprehension skills.

Confusing Indies with Hobbyists, is a terrible insult to the future developers of the industry. Especially, when I'm aspiring to be an indie.

Contrast is nothing like No Luca No (if were being serious here its a terrible game -1/100)

However to be fair to XBLA their were many gems like TKA. Quality Control was neccessary, so it doesn't suprise me that XO is more strigent on indies for the X1.

Furthermore, XBLA games had to compete with exclusives like Halo, Gears, Fable, Forza not to mention multiplats and the PS3 library.

Conversely, PS4 Indies which are of generally higher production value then XBLA games are facing competition from maybe 4 exclusives and 10-15 multiplats right now.

Okay, I guess I didn't word it right.

"Indies" on Xbox 360 and "Indies" on PS4 are completely different things and I'm not sure that Xbox fanboys understand that. That's all I'm saying. Hobbyists is a better descriptive but Microsoft called them Indies so I think that is where the confusion lies.

i don't know many Xbox 360 fans and owners, me included, who would have a problem with XBLA type games so why the double standard of acting like those type of games mean nothing for the PS4?

You did, I was just agreeing with you and adding some conjecture upon why Indie studios have so much weight currently.

XBLA had the problem that Steam does now and that Mobile has in droves. The "indies" for the PS4 are basically All at the top level of the Indie, so much so that they actually get metacritic ratings like Towerfall Ascension.

Furthermore, Indies don't face competition from big AAAs in next gen because they haven't fully transition to the systems yet. In a years time, indies will be of diminished importance.

Okay, I thought you were mad at me thinking I had confused the two.

I have been turned on to a lot of cool stuff I wouldn't have otherwise played because of indies so I hope they don't diminish.

So why do people keep asking where the games are for the PS4? They should be searching high and low for games for the X1 because I think they've been kidnapped.

These same people generally lists 4 games as their examples of "there is no drought on the xb1", they're always the same: Ryse, Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall... and they talk about those as if they had the best graphics ever, should all have been game of the year a million times last year... and Titanfall until it was released was to be the second coming of the christ (or whatever people believe is the very best thing ever). Obvisouly 3 of these games were released with the system, 3 are not even that good... and titanfall, well it's not as good as it's made out to be and you can play it much better on a mid range PC.

Now take into account that they have about half the games on the xb1 than on the PS4... it looks pretty bad (and the list of games announced between now and E3 shows a similar trend).

But hey, most games don't count if they go against the whole "xb1 is so great" argument.

Thats makes it even worse paying a premium for games that are not as good.

Not talking about plants vs zombies here but look at AAA games like Ryse and Knack...compared to the downloadable 15$ resogun. Which is a hit and will probably go on to become a cult classic.

So yeah good games and bad games thats all it is :/

So all the 360 was getting were multiplatform games and crappy Kinect games.

Those Kinect games weren't crappy.  They may not have appealed to you and I but if they sold one copy to one person, and somebody enjoyed them then they were good games.  Just not good to you.  And low Metacritic scores don't count.  A game is a game.

Wise men in this thread taught me that.

Oh, come on man. That's just being PC about the topic. If that's the case, SuperMan 64 wasn't a crappy game, Jaws 4 wasn't a crappy movie, and the XFL wasn't a crappy football league....as long as one person liked it.

Just yankin' your crank.  I totally agree with you.  Just playing devil's advocate since a couple of people in this very thread had that point of view about quality (I paraphrased a bit).  I just switched the word "Indie" with the word "Kinect" though I personally think Indie games are some of the best experiences to be had on any console these days.

Just so we are clear here the following games are indie:
Towerfall Ascension, Contrast, TKA, Doki-Doki Universe, Soundshapes, Flower, Journey, Super Hot,etc...
The following are AA:
Resogun, Killer Instinct, Lococycle, Strider(AA1/2), Trials Fusion, Minecraft...
The Following are AAA:
Infamouse, Halo, The Last of Us, GTA...

The differences are subtle but the ratings/qualifications basically describe the investment and production value of the game, e.g. Minecraft was Indie but now its AA, Notch barely qualifies as an indie developer.

That's what I don't get. I LOVE Dead Rising and was deeply saddened by it's exclusivity. But to be honest and judging from the first two games it wouldn't take about a week to play through. Same with Ryse from what I've heard. If Forza is like the earlier ones it is awesome for a couple weeks but then quickly boring. So if I had gotten an Xbox One at launch I would be done with it by Christmas and waiting until March for Titanfall to come out? Then waiting until the end of May for Watchdogs?

Kind of puts into perspective that the PS4 is is getting quantity and quality games that appeal to a lot of different people.
