Have the PS4 figures been confirmed yet?

I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.

I think that right from the start it was obvious that PS4 was going to put one heck of a fight in the US. And given the hype before it was only natural for it to start above the XB1.
People are also very quick to forget what history has taught us. In 2007/8 people already claimed PS3 to be dead last and Wii to overcome everyone with ease. Look how things turned out.

We are 6 months into this cycle and people are already calling XB1 doomed. Even in the States, it`s too early to see how things will pan out.
With XB1 doing so well at 500$, it`s got a great future ahead of it.
And let`s not forget, MS is in a better condition to decrease the price gap and keep it competitive.

Microsoft is not sony they dont have the track record  with studios/indy support in terms of titles.  Nor do they have the fanbase built up to take this kind of a hit like sony did last gen and recover from it.  Also sony could justify the price of the ps3 cause of blu ray, microsoft can not do the same cause of kinect, and trust me if sony launched the ps3 and was losing head to head to the 360 in europe and japan the way xbox is losing america sony fans would have been rightfully just as panicked.

The first MS fans had to endure the success of PS2, so it`s nothing new to them.
I´m not sure if MS can or cannot justify the price tag. From a manufacturing point of view, the price might be just about right. From a commercial point of view the only reason i`d say no, is because the basic premise of Kinect was already sold on XB360. From the angle, the new Kinect isn`t enough reason ot buy a 500$ console.
It`s a tough call. Personally, i never believed the new Kinect would make the same impact.

The thing is XB360 wasn`t doing that well in Europe as XB1 is doing, now, in the US. They are on par, but up there in sales numbers, not down there.
That`s why i don`t understand the doom comments. I understand that MS might be worried that it will be a tougher fight they originally thought, but there`s no reason to panic. Selling 311K is more than healthy for the Xbox business in the US.

As a fan of the OG Xbox, I can tell you dats bullshit. Console Wars ended when Sega died and then restarted with the 360 vs PS3.

Wow, so even after all that MS still lost. Is it time to start worrying now or will the denial continue? And as I thought, PS4 undertracked, X1 overtracked.

To get this whole X1 doom thread of the tracks a little, look at this:

Wii's first NPD March (5 weeks as well): 259 000

That makes the whole thing look a whole lot better doesn't it?

And just for shits and giggles the PS2s first NPD March: 547 000

PS2 was a God, nothing will ever compare. Though the Wii was heavily supply constrained.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Feb NPD - 258k/4 weeks = 64.5k per week

March NPD - 311k/5 weeks = 62.2k per week

It sold less per week than last month. How??

I was expecting a narrow MS win, and have been saying that even that win will be a disappointment due to price cuts and giving away free Titanfall.
Redmond cannot be happy, they lost money on those promotions, and now they get beaten to boot. And not beaten closely, but by 20%.
Oh, if I were only a fly on Phil Spencer's office wall right now. The atmosphere there must be comparable to an open-casket funeral.

Once there`s two or more competitors, there`s always a brand war. It`s only natural.
the difference that generation is that neither GC nor XB stood a chance to even have a "war". The war was already before they came to the market.

I`m sure that many MS and Nintendo fans went through a tough time back then.

Wow, I thought with the XB1 price cut, Titanfall bundle and 12 month live subscription it would romp home, I suck at predicting obviously. Can't really see a way around it for MS in the short term, the game bundle and price cut addressed the value proposition but that didn't work, MS exclusive Titanfall (yes its available on the 360, but not in March and MS gave it no advertising) gave them the killer game but it didn't work, so whats next?

That's what I've been wondering , last NPD someone, I think it was Rolstoppable, had the theory that the X1 numbers in February were only as high as they were because the NPD adjusted some months prior to that up and since they can't change old numbers they posted before, they just added the sales to February.

No idea how realistic that theory is, though.
