People just don't seem to remember the gamecube era the way i seem to remember the gamecube era.

Apples and oranges. The Gamecube era had one console that was so dominant it became pointless to develop for multiple platforms. Not really the case anymore.

Still, no proof that third parties won't dodge Nintendo platforms just 'cuz (and some conditional evidence that they will)

Gamecube did get strong support. It had most of the major multiplats and a whole bunch of exclusive third party titles. Its just proof that power+third parties arent what Nintendo needs in order to sell well.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

The1 might be a good point as they did overshot the market price by inclusion of 3d. The2 and The3 however, do contribute to the joke thread theory by some people.

OP's arrogance needs to stop.

I remember the Gamecube era. Absolutely fantastic games on a console that cost very little. Third parties supported it because it was capable hardware. I remember the Gamecube stopped getting a lot of later multiformat titles as sales figures didn't justify development. PS2 was the winner of the generation but the original xbox seem to get better support thanks perhaps to easy development and an older profile of users with more money.

The wii came in and seemed to destroy a lot of third party support. As the hardware was a generation behind many developers just seemed to ignore it despite its success as mainstream gamers had gone to 360 and PS3.

The wii u came in also a generation behind overall and not even selling that well after the initial launch.

My wii u habits are basically enjoying first party games and buying wii u versions of multiformat games from publishers stupid enough to develop for wii u from bargain bins. I'm probably not alone in that.

I think Nintendo deserved this failure. The wii u was either priced excessively or the wrong spec. At its current spec they should have launched it at wii original pricing or they should have attempted a more competitive spec that put it much closer to xbox one performance. Only the second option would have enabled proper third party support and perhaps that is a huge part of the wii u's failure, lack of such support.

Software delays should have been avoided at all costs. At this point I'm certain that all Nintendo fans have experienced at least one delay for an anticipated franchise these last few years; Nintendo gives you a date only to make you wait even longer than initially promised, and for what reason? "Polish" of their software, as they like to call it. This is yet another example of Nintendo failing to adapt to what is largely considered industry standards in this day and age. Because the means of avoiding these delays are already there, and have been for quite some time: Need more time to fix bugs or glitches? Release the game in time and let the gamers report the issues, then simply apply software updates accordingly. Need more time to create levels or other additional content? Release it as DLC whenever the work is done.

You're joking, right? Yeah, it must be a joke...

I knew this was a joke post based off the title. I have better detective skills than anyone in here.

Also, Anfebious, stop being such a cruel man.

You were a terrible detective, and what do you mean by bolded.

I was a good enough detective to see from the beginning that Anfebious was trolling you.

A good detective keeps in mind how logical the person is when they're being serious as well.

I gave the benefit of doubt and asked just in case. My post really is the bottom line on the subject....Nintendo is struggling to catch up to standards. There is so much work ahead of them because they sat on their asses all last gen while they raked in the money. Titles are greatly benefitted with the DLC model, and fanbases are more than happy to pay.

One of the reasons Nintendo turns me off is because they don't release games often enough. If you can't satisfy me with one game every 4 years, what makes you think I'll buy your system? Especially when you don't support it?

And the idea that Nintendo polishes their games so there are no glitches? Nonsense. Nintendo games not only have game-breaking bugs (Remember the latest pokemon bricking event?), but they also update just like everyone else, and already have dlc in games like fire emblem and animal crossing. Nintendo is already heading there...and it's great! They're churning out games faster than they have in the last ten years. There's no problem here.

Saying, "nintendo is fine, what, do you want them to be like EA", is an immature argument using exaggeration to make a nonsensical point. DLC and updates could lead to becoming like EA, but it also could mature into becoming like Naughty Dog- a single studio which possibly held more goty awards than all of nintendo last gen.

Ah yes, hindsight always brings out the experts...

(And even better, there's no way to actually assess their claims.)

Ha! Then why do you think the Wii has sold better than the Wii U if original poster is only using hindsight?

It's obvious. The Wii U is not as appealing as the original Wii. Deal with it bro.
