LOL i couldnt even continue reading past that.

He's not wrong really.
I'm not saying the Kinect2 shouldn't have been made, but it's well since proven that it's not for everyone.
And someone would have to be stark raving insane to think that Microsoft wouldn't have been better off launching the XB1 @ $399 with no Kinect at all. If they really wanted to push it hard, they could have loss-led it by bundling it with a killer game down the line.
Voice recognition could have been controller-integrated (or a good mic on the front of the console).
I'm pretty sure even Microsoft realizes this by now.
It was a risk, and it didn't pay off. Oh well. XB1 will still have great games anyway, but by the end of this gen I'd easily bet that the top 10 XB1 titles won't even have a single one that's Kinect centric. Perhaps one or two might have some element of optional Kinect integration, at best.
| pokoko said: Coincidental? Of course it's not coincidental, the Edge story was about turning the Xbox One around. Molyneux's answer was one that a lot of other people also believe, that they should offer an SKU without Kinect. I don't think that's exactly controversial. I don't have a problem with people disagreeing with him but why shouldn't he answer a question that's asked of him? |
Because if it were that simple, they wouldn't be able to simply disregard his comment as a "person seeking attention, trying to get back his past glory". Can't have a formerly MS guy talk negatively about MS. To most, a guy in his position would know what he's talking about, so the fans would rather we ignore his opinion, as to keep the XBone in the best light possible. Don't want the "opposition" to have the ammunition to say "even a big time MS guy doesn't like Kinect" so they're trying to give the impression that his opinion just doesn't matter.
Same thing would happen if someone like David Reeves said something negative about PS4. PS fans would say he just doesn't matter anymore....even though he's worked at Sony and has a clue about the games' industry. That wouldn't matter, what he (hypothetically) said didn't make my console choice look good, so despite him having been an industry worker and used to work for my console choice's company, I clearly know more than him and he's just trying to find his former glory. Don't listen to him.

I think Peter is a little over-rated but Cliff is a great dev. From Jazz the Jack Rabit, Unreal TOurnament, |
If we're including games from the 90's then Peter Molyneux is also a great dev!

I think he might be doing his old act after he hyped up Kinect with project milo and fable, he's now bashing it and will probably come out with a virtual reality game or some other "technological revolution" after Godus which he will then hype up as the best thing slice bread.

Wait, a video game that sucks guys? Awesome. Is that a special edition?

I think Unreal Tournament 3 is as effective an example of Cliff's "good" work as anything Molyneux has made since 2005, too.
He made plenty of good games in the noughties too. Black & White 2 and The Movies were excellent (both of which released in 2005, ironically)

idk, CLiff has made very successful games coninuosly from his career and they spread from game to game. Peter has made good games as well, just has lost his way for a long period of time now. Fable is good and all but fans always wanted more, and this partially might be because he promised more.
Im not saying his whole career has been bad, just that he has been going downhill rather than up. Cliff on t he other hand as i said has made good games throughout his whole career whether that be the 90s or recently. ONly time will tell if CLiff continues that post EPIC.
