Nothing is worse than buying a console to have it replaced 2 years into its cycle. These machines are an investment no matter how much they cost. People want to be able to use them for at least 4+ years.

i would argue they should have done that from the jump. I thought thats where they were going with it anyway, i expected SOME kind of portability if they were going the tablet route. |
oh, totally dude, but there is what is and what could have been. Sort of have to make the best of what than. even though they've said it the WiiU can support 2 tablets (altough they say no one is doing it so far) so maybe they could make a second unit that uses the existing console as like a docking unit and even boost the power of this said second tablet.
Check the link below. (note to Admins: it's not really porn please don't ban me!)

I honestly dont even believe them when they say that. I think they are just saying what people want to hear, becasue a) they know people will scoff at it even more or b) they know deep down that the messed up and it SHOULD be supporting at least two pads anyway.
They want to kill it now but Nintendo will release their next home console in 2016 so they can say they supported the Wii U for four years.
If Nintendo will introduce a new game console within the next 2 years. That will cost a lot of cash. And what if it will "fail" also? Nintendo won't be able to recover from another game console failure:/
I still have hope for the WiiU with Mario kart! Damn, that game looks fantastic.

You're totally misreading my point. I didn't say it should be deleted because I don't like it. I said that differing (or often not-so-differing) variations on this same exact "Nintendoom", "Should Nintendo release a new console?" type of theme, is beyond overdone, and beyond old. In other gaming forums, "clone" threads like this that pop up with basically the same subject matter as one or more OTHER major threads, is usually locked, deleted, or collapsed into a more relevant thread. That is what I was saying in that comment, that the mods should actually pay attention, because these "Nintendoom" threads pop up every single week, in the multitudes, it's not just one a week, it's many a week. And it's beyond ridiculous.

Instead of pouring money into the R&D for making a new console, they would be better off giving the Wii U a standard 5+ year life and investing in acquiring/founding studios and infrastructure so they can have a lot of actually dependable software support. Besides, let's say the Wii 3 were released Holiday 2015. What would sell it? I suppose they can have another 2D Mario by then, but a true next 3D Mario won't be ready until 2016, Mario Kart and Smash Bros won't have successors for ages, especially since the Mario Kart team will likely need to have MK9 for the 3DS's successor by its launch in, say, late 2017. Super Smash Bros can be rushed more, but it would involve Nintendo essentially annexing Bandai Namco's fighting team for almost permanent use, considering that was the only way SSB4 is gettting done in about two years. Then you have Zelda, which I guess can skip the Wii U like Metroid did the N64, Retro's next game, which will come out Holiday 2016 earliest, and... I'm not thinking of much else. My point is, the Wii 3 in 2016 and 2017 would suffer from similar problems as the Wii U in 2012 and 2013. It would have too small an installbase to get all the third party games, and the more powerful system will only stretch Nintendo resources further. The problem is Nintendo's ability to support their consoles, not 3rd parties. |
Or doing what Sony/MS do, and moneyhatting more third party exclusives.
