Nintendo fans only buy first party so they'd lose money porting the game anyways.

Condescending commentary from a professional outlet - any day of the year - is unprofessional behavior.

All I'll say is that A. "offense" is subjective, so yea.....it is your own problem for getting your panties in a bunch. I don't remember a game engine pledging allegiance to a console. Remember, this was @FrostbiteEngine's tweet, not EA.

And B. I don't have contempt for my fellow gamer, but it is all fair game. Mocking anyone Sony, MS, or Nintendo is fair game. I didn't say it was necessarily a "good thing"...but it was April Fools Day. Get over it. Don't act like Nintendo fans didn't mock PS and Xbox fans for "port begging" Bayonetta 2. Did you guys "have contempt for your fellow gamer"  then because PS/Xbox wasn't getting B2? No? Then why are you pulling the persecution card saying I have "contempt" for you when it comes to something Nintendo isn't getting?

A. No, taking offense is a personal thing, but it is entirely possible to determine when a person or group is being offensive. I wasn't actually offended by Frostbite. But they were disrespecting me, and many other people, with their so-called joke. And Frostbite is owned by EA, so EA is responsible for what is said. But thanks for the "panties in a bunch" phrase that shows ignorance, arrogance, and a massively sexist attitude.

B. I didn't once mock PS or Xbox fans for "port begging" Bayonetta 2. What I did do, though, is emphasise that Nintendo are paying for the game, so port begging wasn't going to do much good. You see, there's a difference between being honest and mocking. If Frostbite had said "Sorry to Wii U owners, but we're not going to be porting Frostbite to the system", people would probably ask for explanations, but they wouldn't be offended by it.

As an example of something that WAS comparable, and somewhat appropriately related to Bayonetta 2, consider the tweets by Kamiya mocking the people who kept asking for certain games on their system of choice - THAT was also unacceptable. The difference there, though, was that Kamiya was an individual, speaking as an individual, whereas Frostbite was speaking from their official PR account.

Furthermore, they didn't just mock Wii U owners, they also mocked anybody who bought Battlefield 4 with their April Fools about their netcode - they couldn't even get it remotely decent, and their April Fools involved them going "we've fixed it!"

And again, this isn't about persecution, it's about disrespect of gamers. And companies like EA have been disrespecting gamers far too long. This was just the tipping point.

EDIT: Let me put this another way - this "joke" was bad enough that EA felt it had to apologise for it and call it stupid, despite not (supposedly) having any games in development for either Nintendo system, despite the obvious response of "sorry, it was just a poorly worded April Fools joke", and despite the fact that they didn't feel the need to apologise when they screwed people over on things like SimCity and Battlefield 4. Those weren't bad enough, but this was. What does that tell you? Perhaps that this had actually crossed the line? Or do you think that EA, the company that told gamers that SimCity had to be online because most of the computing was done in the cloud, despite ample evidence to the contrary, that loves to prevaricate on just about everything, is too quick to apologise and admit to their mistake because of... people who have "their panties in a bunch"?

I (being a loyal Nintendo fan), am not at all offended by the joke itself. What I am bothered though is the way they executed it. We all know the Wii U is unable to run the engine (we get that already, so stop beating around the bush).

But to rub it all over our faces is (like Aielyn said) very disrespectful. The joke essentially was a dick move (somewhat). Of course the Wii U can't run it, but at the same time don't dangle it (the possibility that it might) right in front of us like a rabbit with a carrot.

It's like as if a bunch of 16-17 year olds were playing basket ball and they see a 7-8 year old across the court alone. Knowing that hes is too small to play with the big kids they still offer him to play only to to reveal that they were only joking and they leave him in the dust.

Again the I'm not saying the joke offended me personally, but it was disrespectful and quite honestly a very lame joke all together. The equivalent would be is if Nintendo came up and said that they patched things up with EA and announced that they were bringing Origin to the Wii U. Only to say later that it was all a joke.

apologising is worst from my point of view, is like they are paying respect to the "dead" (implying the Wii U is dead). They should have attacked sony and microsoft, that would have been a better move.
