Wow, that brings back memories. I remember having sleep-overs at a friends house who had a C64 with Elite. We played it in turns (every turn a hyperspace jump) and that went on 'till the sun went up. It was just pure magic.

Quite a slow version on the C64 though as it only had a 1mhz processor.  Still very good though but not as playable as some of the faster versions like on the BBC or BBC tube.

New version of Elite soon, Elite Dangerous, so looking forward to it;

Super Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt, and Metroid. These were the games that started it all for me.

EDIT: And I can't forget about these guys.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

My first system was a Sega Genesis, and my first game was Sonic 2. The game itself didn't exactly turn me into a gamer, but that was at least the start of it. Wanting the system was just sort of a natural thing, I'm not even sure what drove me to it.

Was because Genesis does, what nintenDont!

It's funny you should say that, because one or two years later I sold my Genesis and got an SNES, haha.  (Though I obviously should have just kept the Genesis and had both!)

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

Many more than I expected started their gaming with Sega's offerings. It must have been tough to see them abandon the hardware race.I'm a Nintendo gamer and I was shocked back then even if it was somewhat expected given the poor sales of both Saturn and Dreamcast.

I've always played games, but COD4 is the first one I played ton.

Phoenix, arcade version.

First game I ever played, never stopped.

One day I came home from school and my dad bought an Atari 7800 = Food fight and Pole Position were the first 2 games I ever played, a few years later I played the first WWF game on the NES and it was so fun being Hulk Hogan and fighting Andre the Giant. I absolutley had to get one for TMNT video game, I saved for over a year of birthday and xmas money to buy my first NES.

I had the megadrive for all of that generation right to the very end we got a loan of our cousins SNES, got my hands on a link to the past.... then Secret of Mana, Evermore, Illusions of Time. The SNES destroyed the megadrive with its library of RPGs, the music of Mana is still in my itunes most played lists.

Always hated mario tho when it was between Megadrive Sonic and SNES Mario. loved the hell outta yoshis Island but that technically wasn't a mario game >.> right? 3d sure changed those views right around lol.

Ha!  Thanks for reminding me of Food Fight :)  My cousins and I played that game for countless hours as kids.

Although I grew up on hundreds of Atari games, it wasn't until SMB that I really became a gamer.
