I will simply say this.
If you look at the wide breath of criminology research on gun crimes you come to one conclusion.
The US does not have a gun problem.
Really the arguements are nothing more than emotional.

A ban on guns is absolutely stupid.
The first thing any dictatorship does is remove the people's capability to protect itself.
Gun ownership is not the problem. People who commit crimes are not legal gun owners who are part of NRA, etc. They are people who bought their guns illegally (a process that would only grow if a full ban was allowed) and/or have mental conditions where they should have been in a hospital treatment of some kind.
I'd rather see a ban on chemically created, toxic fast food that causes far more american lives than anything else before the removal of a very purposeful and intelligent constitutional right.
Even with a ban, there's bound to be people that have guns illegally. Plus, there's other weapons people could use.

True that. Guns don't kill people, people do. The United States do have a people problem. |
Well, really it's more of a cultural an enviromental problem.
Most areas and sub groups fall basically right in line with everyone else.
People don't like looking at the data breakdown because it's... uncomfortable.
Espiecally if you don't look at the underlying factors for the demographic differences.

Seriously? In a 'you or them' scenario, you'd rather die? Let your dear ones die too?

You can't ban them over there but you can limit the amount of ammo they can own, have background checks for purchases and have mandatory training in say the army (the 2nd amendment was supposed to be for a militia). The Swiss seem to be relatively free on guns and have very few incidents in comparison.
I do wonder how many Americans die from gun accidents compared to say armed murders or whatever

You really trust the American army to teach people how to responsibly use weapons and employ the minimum necessary amount of violence?

Um... no.
To quote George Mason... the guy who co-wrote the 2nd Ammendment.
People who use that arguement are either ignorant more or less just ignore the stated intent of the founding fathers. Which is funny considering that Seperation of Church and State isn't even anywhere in the consitution but was included due to a letter by Thomas Jefferson.
To quote the guy who wrote the second ammendment.
“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”
Quite honestly, the founding father's statements on it more or less reflect modern arguements. For example.
“The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.”
Thomas Paine

Not really but surely there would be less issues if people knew how to use weapons. But I guess all you need is common sense really

Interesting philosophy but i though the right to arms only existed so Americans could defend themselves if the British ever invaded. We could of came from Canada at any time, especially before the Louisiana purchase of 1803.
