Um... no. To quote George Mason... the guy who co-wrote the 2nd Ammendment. People who use that arguement are either ignorant more or less just ignore the stated intent of the founding fathers. Which is funny considering that Seperation of Church and State isn't even anywhere in the consitution but was included due to a letter by Thomas Jefferson.
To quote the guy who wrote the second ammendment.
“I ask, Sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people. To disarm the people is the best and most effectual way to enslave them.”
Quite honestly, the founding father's statements on it more or less reflect modern arguements. For example. “The supposed quietude of a good man allures the ruffian; while on the other hand arms, like laws, discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as property. The same balance would be preserved were all the world destitute of arms, for all would be alike; but since some will not, others dare not lay them aside … Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them.”

Interesting philosophy but i though the right to arms only existed so Americans could defend themselves if the British ever invaded. We could of came from Canada at any time, especially before the Louisiana purchase of 1803.
