Forums - Nintendo - Ask VGchartz #1: Which 3DS games have the best 3D effects overall?

The 3DS's style 3D-effect is definitely underrated. I don't care much for 3D in movies (mainly because of the glasses), but for games it's certainly useful. It really does make games look better and especially play (a lot) easier. In fact, because of the effect and the helpful added depth, I'm slowly getting worse at jumping correctly in a 3D-plain in 'regular' games on my 2D television. And also, I agree about the posting of 2D images on Miiverse... Just turn on that 3D people!

Anyway, most games's 3D effects are pretty good. I was quite impressed by Ocarina of Time but now almost three years later it's clear the tech improved. Besides Super Mario 3D Land which proved the usefulness of the effect gameplay-wise, to me the most noteworthy games are:

Luigi's Mansion 2: Each room it's like looking into a diorama, greatly improves the game's graphics. I played the demo of Castlevania and it gave me a similar feel.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds: The depth effect is amazing (Death Mountain Crater looks like it's a mile deep), it helps in solving puzzles and in getting a better feel of the layout of an area.
Mario Kart 7: It's so smooth I've never had that game's 3D effect 'ghost' on me, it also helps greatly at judging distances and angles to other karts so you can more properly aim your projectiles.

Dead or Alive probably has the best effects out of any that I've played. Not a big fan of 3D gaming though.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Lol, Pokemon X had really bad 3D effects for a flagship 3DS game... Only in single battles which made it laggy as hell, plus a couple of caves and cutscenes.

Pilotwings Resort which I bought on launch day, has still some of the most well-made 3D effects on the console. Luigi's Mansion 2 looks also great, but since it's mostly pretty dark, there are many cases of ghosting (lol!)

3D Land is also a great showcase, but one of the best is A Link Between Worlds. I can play with 3D for hours on end in that one, without getting tired.

Yep.

Fire Emblem Awakening looks great

Playing Xenoblade 2 before I buy Xenoblade 3 (otherwise I couldn't wait to play 3).

Can they announce a new Fire Emblem? A remake of Genealogy or Tellius would suffice !

Mario 3d Land
Zelda ALBW
Zelda OOT 3d

all have good 3d

Ocarina of Time, A Link Between Worlds, Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus are my favourites fo 3D.

Arkham Origins Blackgate, for some reason, I just loved the comic cutscenes in 3D.

1doesnotsimply

Whenever the Kid Icarus cartoons show up on Nintendo Video, there's always this one image of Lady Pau....however the hell you spell her name. Anyway, she's holding her staff towards the screen. I always pause the video there and try to touch it. It seems so real!

everything 2D looks better in 3D, if that makes any sense

The 3D effect is going to look better then ever before in games like:

Super Smash Bros. Four 3DS

Rodea the Sky Soldier

King of Pirates

Pokémon 7th Gen

Zone of the Enders 3

Persona Q

Ironfall

Etc.

I liked Mirror of Fate's a lot.
