The real money of VR does not lie in gaming. Sony would be amiss if they left out the casual markets- that don't purchase gaming consoles. (As well as the sciences, and wherever else VR is applicable).

well someone (i.e. facebook or a google) had to get in before micrososft did. From facebooks perspective they probably wanted to block out google more.

Yes, I'm guessing this as well. Facebook has a history of buying apps/ programs to compete with other businesses like Instagram and the like. Most have been failures, but they also just recently bought a texting app for 19 billion dollars - one that Google also bid on. Facebook is probably anticipating this to be the next big thing and wants to get a leg up on the competition.

where the ef does all this money come from. Facebook dont have this kind of cash. $19B for whats app now $2B more for this they only profited something like 1.8B last year and accumulatively do not have anywhere near $21B
