"Indie" will die.

But small games made by independent developers will remain.

Exactly.

He do realize he's indie himself???

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

For once I agree with him.

He just mad because godus bombed hard.

Is Monlyneux envious of the success of indie developers, with their huge sales numbers and low production costs ?

I´d ask him what will fade sooner: cheap creative profitable indie games or massive big-bugget low-profit AAA games...

The real question is.... those small developers, like Shin´en, Renegade Kid etc. are doing so well that they´re expanding their teams. Will they still keep this "indie development" (low budget, focus on design, digital distribution only) phylosophy when they get bigger or will they try to embrace the "AAA" paradigm too?

I sincerely hope they go and keep for the first option.

Say all you want about third party on Nintendo consoles but the indie games on them are amazing! Gunman Clive baby!!!

Considering how many bad indie games steam has, I wouldn't doubt it... Out of every awesome indie game on steam, there are many more bad ones and I hate the concept of Early Access that indies seem to have cause since most of the time, they don't furfill what they promised and you already paid for it

Hundreds.  For every great indie game, there are hundreds that aren't worth the $15 they launch for.  Even some of the highly rated game aren't really that great.

For every AAA game there's a pile of mediocre ones too, indies that suck will disappear, indies that don't will move on to bigger things and the yearly flood of fresh out of college types will fill in the gaps.
They always have, the only difference between now and other times is that more focus is on them because big budget titles are getting few and far between and if they don't at least release something then the consoles would suck even more than they currently do.

Go ask a PC gamer who is adventurous if he or she ever experienced a time when people weren't releasing indie titles, feature packed mods or awesome browser games.

He's created & co-created 3 studios Bullfrog, Lionhead and now 22 Cans... He's been heavily involved in some great games, such as Populous, Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate, Black & White & Fable... Brainless? Really?

Molyneux is undeniably a videogame genius, but as much undeniably he's one of the most unreliable ones!    When he delivers, it's almost always a timeless classic, but he's also capable to drag hot vapour around for ages.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

What he is saying goes without saying, the indies who succed will make money and grow their operation to take on more ambitious projects, eventually these studios will become mid-tier studios and maybe AAA studios as well... some may eventually take on EA/Activision/UbiSoft...

Obviously some Indie devs do not want to grow their operation, so these will just keep on going small.

There are just so many places where a business can go.
