Now its desperation. See, its not so hard to see the difference between a manufacturer price cut and a retail one.

Not really, you can control your entire living room with Kinect voice commands due to the IR Blaster. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but the PS4 only has voice commands if you pay extra for the camera or wear a headset (which isn't the most practical thing), and even then it has no IR blaster as far as I know. |
Oh yeah, IR Blaster forgot about that, but even then Blue Tooth remotes are common nowadays. Everything else can be done in software, but seeing as nobody is really asking for it a lot of those media features are low priority for PS4.
Every PS4 comes with a headset ergo every PS4 can use voice commands. Furthermore, it works with any headset and it ensures that commands are coming from the person wearing the headset and not ambient noise or sound coming from speakers. Thus its arguably more practical then commands picked up with a camera.

"Microsoft’s Xbox One entertainment console has made unprecedented sales and surpassed the sales rate of its processor, the Xbox 360."
Impressive, it has outsold its processor. And not only that it is the 360 itself!
Its clear MSFT is happy with how the XB1 has sold, but not compared to the ps4. MSFT wants to win this generation and they feel price is the biggest roadblock, I happen to agree as an early adopter.
It will always be too expensive when the price continues to include the Kinect that I don't want.
| Zekkyou said: Well if this becomes an official price cut it confirms to us that MS weren't satisfied with the X1's sales. Still, it's not a huge drop and MS can take the hit with little problem. The hopefully gain in market share will likely offset any loss in the long run anyway. |
If they go on to sell 10 million consoles per year, at $50 less that's $500 million lost revenue per year, plus the opportunity cost of bundling the game.
Being able to take the hit thanks to deep pockets, and it being good for the XB business aren't the same.

| Hornet303 said: Wow, piss off a whole bunch of people that just paid $400 for the Titanfall bundle. I wonder if some retailers will have to refund the $50 for those folks that paid full price just a week ago? |
I guess these guy are the most happy... biggest deal.

I certainly did? You can navigate menus. films, television, games, your entire entertainment library with your voice and gestures. I am getting at nothing. You suggested that because something wasn't available 5 months ago, that it shouldn't be factored into value now. I pointed out how pedandic that viewpoint is. My personal opinion is that features available now and included with the price should contribute to any perception of value, for both consoles. |
Oh those were the media functions? Voice commands?
Okay thanks. Just making sure.
