Nope. Console gaming will change and adapt, but never cease to exist. VR may be the next big thing that pushes the industry forward.

VR might be popular for a few years but i don't think it's sustainable. If I had to guess it will end up like motion controls after this gen is over.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I started out to make some sort of comparison between Nintendo's big games and their equivalent on other systems but I got tired after comparing GC to PS2/XB.
I could not find good equivalents to Smash, Luigis Mansion, Animal Crossing. Metroid Prime was also a problem - Which FPS is similar enough to be a match?

Anyway the conclusion I was looking for was - Could Nintendo have done better on PS2 or Xbox? Probably not!

Super Smash Bros. Melee GC 2001 7.07
Tekken Tag Tournament PS2 2000 4.05
God of War PS2 2005 4.45

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! GC 2003 6.95
The Simpsons: Hit & Run PS2 2003 4.70 XB 2003 1.35

Super Mario Sunshine GC 2002 6.31
Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex PS2 2001 5.42 XB 2002 1.23
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy PS2 2001 3.64

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker GC 2002 4.60
Final Fantasy X PS2 2001 8.05
Kingdom Hearts PS2 2002 5.85
Fable XB 2004 2.66

Luigi's Mansion GC 2001 3.60
???? PS2

Animal Crossing GC 2001 3.15
???? PS2

Metroid Prime GC 2002 2.82
???? PS2

Err I think you posted in the wrong thread.

Maybe. Depends on the costs and developer interest. It's certainly an interesting idea.

Not yet.

More important than these boxes with the names 'Playstation', 'Xbox' on them, is that if/when it happens, the games/type of games we all enjoy live on.

One day dedicated consoles might no longer be made, but it doesn´t mean you don´t get to enjoy your Uncharted/God of War/Halo/Metal Gear/Mario/Zelda/etc etc elsewhere.

titanfall uk day one numbers over 100k for the xbox one and about 6k for pc. The power of the pc that rapidly changes to stay ahead of consoles doesn't matter. People just like to game more on the controlled environment that is console gaming.

The only thing that proves is that the majority of PC gamers in the UK are smart enough not to pay top dollar for half a game..

Is that what you got from that? I only used that example because it is what was readily in my head without resorting to research. I think the disparity of buyers of one game over 100k to 6k proves one platform is far more popular than the other. and thats just one video game platform which happens to be in third place of current gen platforms. not to mention many people still game on the 7th platforms.

PC elitist are few in number compared to console gamers but sem like alot in networking because....well they're always on pc.

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)

On the other hand, are normal, non-trolling polls doomed?

Yes.

Looks Like it.

I believe the Playstation brand will move onto to streaming through different devices, atleast that is what Sony seems to be aiming for. MS will probably aim for a streaming box and expand the XBox brand on PC, tablets and smartphones. Nintendo, well, they seem to take a more conservative road so I am not sure where it wil lead.

Digital delivery and streaming only next gen.

Less console, more set top box/service.

VR will never work with streaming, physics does not allow it.
Consoles will still be the cheapest and most convenient option for a long time. Streaming will always be behind in quality to what dedicated hardware can achieve, with lag, compression artifacts, and less detail to keep the hardware costs down, so the subscription rates stay competitive. Streaming will be there for retro and indie games.

If Sony and MS both go for streaming boxes next gen, someone else will fill the void.
