$250 Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle would be best move for Wii U system, but losses for Nintendo would be too big.

I can definitely see $250 Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle in future, but hardly this year, maybe for holidays, but more likely next year.

A Mario Kart 8 bundle would make  Wii U sales skyrocket by 900000000000% and that's why Nintendo won't release a bundle like that one.

Of course they wouldn't. Good old Nintendo, always thinking of us. A 900 billion% increase in Wii U sales would probably overheat the entire world economy, and no one wants that. A $300 bundle would be much safer for everyone. It won't revive the Wii U, but it'll give it a nice boost without ending civilization as we know it.

Think about it though. The Wii U sold about 36,000 the week of March 15th. 900 billion% of that would be 32,400,000,000,000,000 Wii Us. That's 32 quadrillion, 400 trillion. The average person would own 4.5 million Wii Us. The amount of money spent on Wii Us that week would be $8,100,000,000,000,000,000. That's 8 quintillion, 100 quadrillion. That's at least 95,000% of the total global GDP. In other words, it would take 95,000 equally populated and productive earths to pay for that many Wii Us in a year. Civilization as we know it WOULD end. Also, there would be more copies of Mario Kart than any other piece of media, ever, combined.

Just some fun with numbers! : D

Pretty intelligent post you have there! I will go back to beating my Wii U if you don't mind!

Well if you got yours during the holiday rush I'm sure you bought a few million, so you can afford to use them as punching bags if you want. : D

Come on though, it wasn't that intelligent, I just wondered how many zeroes you had there and wondered what sort of scale that would be so a punched a few numbers into a calculator, googled the global GDP, and punched more numbers. I was amused, so I posted my results.

Hey, maybe you can have something like that sooner that we tough:

The WII U is already being sold at a loss so no.

Hmm maybe feasible if you bundle MK8 as digital download, with the Basic Set -- though MK8 will likely be much bigger than 8GB....

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

You guys are forgetting that Nintendo over-ordered the Wii U from manufacturers last year. Selling them at 250 will be a lesser loss than keeping them on inventory. They already payed for them last year afterall.

I find it extremely likely. They will try to pull a 3DS with Mario kart 8 and Smash. Would be good to see them finally doing something.

They need to make money off selling Mario Kart 8. Bundling it wouldn't be a smart move financially.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Not unless the production price for Wii U goes down significantly somehow before the end of May. Nintendo was losing money back when they were selling the console by itself for $300; dropping the price for the console by essentially $110 (assuming Mario Kart costs $60), would put them at an even worse position than they're in already.

Once again, the Wii U always comes bundled with a game now. MK8 will not increase the cost anymore than the already bundled games.

While that's true, the difference here is that there are no Wii U bundles that are going for $250 (outside of ones repriced by retailers to simply get rid of their stock). What you're asking for is Nintendo, who was already losing money on the $350 Wii U bundle when it came out, and then cut the bundle price and started eating bigger losses, to now once again increase their loss per console with a bundle that adds another $50 in the negative. That's not going to happen.

Yep, it wont happen, just like with the first price cut... oh wait! Why you guys still seem to think losing money is the only factor that plays into whether or not they should price cut despite Nintendo proving twice already that it's not, I'll never know!

Iwata said at the investor meeting that another price cut is not an option.

Yep, he said similar things before the first price cut, naturally, since if people know a price cut is coming then they wont buy the console at all until then.

They simply couldn't explain such a move to the investors.

"So, we have this big ass game that everyone will biy, right? But guess what we do, we just give it away for free with every console! Profits!"

Only Microsoft can get away with such a move because they have more money than god. :P

Except they don't have a big ass game everyone will buy. Mario Kart is in the same tier as 3D Mario and NSMB salewise going by 3DS numbers, as all 3 games are looking to cross the 10 million mark. However on the Wii U, NSMBU and SM3DW have done nothing in terms of helping the console surpass the Gamecube, so what makes you think Mario Kart will do differently? Sure it'll bump the Wii U's sales up a week or two, but after that it's gonna go back down the crapper. That's why they need a bundle + price cut so the increased sales will be sustained longer, atleast long enough for Bayo 2, X, SSB4 to release.
