Good, some one has to make a stand and at least try stop this virus from spreading... what better place to start than at school. Seriously Vladimir Putin would applaud this move, we gotta look out for the kids.

After all Vladimir Putin understands that the best way to slow down the spread of this virus is to stop any and all forms of propaganda that 'could' potentially corrupt the minds of children.

We've all herd the old saying "Sacrifice a few and save a thousand". I know it's a bitter pill swallow, but please understand some times small sacrifices have to be made for the greater good of society.

Look, it's ok for gay people to exist and come out to family and friends, there is no issue with this and I will never condone violence against them, but please understand that this is a PRIVATE matter that should only ever involve direct family and friends, this private matter should NOT be made public....trying to make it public comes across like you have an agenda or something, this to me IS propaganda and it's this that I am against!

I know there will be allot of people who will hate my comments but you know what? it's OK to have different opinions. I for one will not be coerced into silence by the overly sensitive and Politically correct people on this forum.

We live in a time were we value the freedom of speech no matter if it's something you like or not, any form of censorship on this freedom will only serve to destroy it. If you value this freedom as much as I do, and hate censorship just as much, then voice your own opinions on this matter rather than trying to censor anyone's opinion you do not agree with.

Note:
I am an Atheist so please do not confuse me for a religious person, my views are my own...in case you didn't already know, Atheism says nothing about this topic or any other, Atheism is simply the disbelief of a God/deity.

Why would I confuse you for a religious person? You sound like an atheist to a T.

Now I know, thanks Sheridan School District.

Fucking geniuses. When self-importance rules self-awareness.

Yeah that is true to a degree actually. I guess in Asian culture it's not as important to put people in a specific cathegory/sterotype/whatever. Like, many people here just eat vegtables and never eat meat, but they wouldn't consider themselves as vegans or vegetarians. They just simply don't eat meat, nothing more to it. And noone really cares if you eat meat or not.

In "the west" there's this whole thing about belonging to something or being something special. And people will love or hate you for it. The whole vegetarian, to eat or not eat meat in the west is out of proportions from my point of view. Some people will hate on you for being a vegan or gay. Why? I can't see the reason for it. Sorry I went so off-topic. :P

But yes I can see that too, I think gay marriage will be allowed here in the future for sure, because no one doesn't really care about it to be honest. It's just in the law and there hasn't been any discussion about changing it yet, that's about it. There are many gay clubs or dating websites and such, freely open, no restrictions. So being gay is okay, but getting married is still not in the law. I have even been to gay clubs when I go out to party, and I am not even interested in boys or men, but if I like the club I can go there and have fun. I don't think that many straight men or women go to gay clubs to party in the west, but I could be wrong.

But also in China for example, you get married because you want to start a family and have children. It's very traditional. So I don't even know if gay people in China wants to get married? It might sound strange but it might not even be in their interest.

And to be honest, the Chinese government would love it if more people went gay, there would be less babies and less problem with the massive population. :P

Yes, there are places, say in most of Texas, where if you say you are a vegeterian you can get into trouble and assalted or run out of town.  Even Oprah Winfrey got sued by the state of Texas for saying 'with mad cow, maybe you shouldn't eat meat.'  It's like peeing on their religiion while sacraficing 10 babies to satan while rollerblading in a pink tutu- that's how upset they get.

That was the attitude for most gay peole about 10-20 years ago.  They they realized out things like they could buy a house, and the one half family might take it if one died, and leave the other homless.  Paying extra taxes a married couple wouldn't have to pay, adopting children together,  not being allowed to see you dying loved on in the hospital - those kind of things they you are protected from if you are married.

True True!   "Chinese government would love it if more people went gay, there would be less babies and less problem with the massive population. :P"  The would is so crowded sometimes I think we should promoto homosexuality!

But ha ha, it doesn't work like that.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

I think you missed the point of that HS's yearbook.  Many students write different stories about things they learned and experiences they went through growing up and going to that school.  Some may write about working at a hospital, learning to ride and show horses, this kid wrote about his coming out expereince.

Why should his story be single out and rejected just because he is gay?  It shouldn't, and as the article stated, the only rejected others because they didn't want to look bad for just rejecting the 'gay kid.' Many other stories are stll included.

It's showing that bigotry is still alive and well in parts of the USA.  I get what you are saying and think people shouldn't have to come out. If they are asked if they are with someone it shouldn't matter if they are dating someone named Kelly if it is a guy or a girl.  But unfortunately, parts of the country and the world aren't that evolved yet.

As someone with your experiences, I'm suprized you see that.

Here's the thing.  I support gay rights... but at the same time I can't help but feel your swallowing this story a bit too hard without doing any further research.

That part of the article just seemed like an assumption on the part of the Yearbook comitttees.

We don't even know what those other stories are, so we can't really judge.

Additionally, I don't see where many other stories were included... to me it just looks like they decided to get rid of ALL the stories this year... and maybe just in general.

Based on the actual wording of the superintendent it almost sounds like they just decided to scrap the stories permanently this year and fucked up the year to do it.

Lots of schools have decided to get rid of such things so as to save money and to equalize yearbooks, so that when people look at the book they don't think the school was centered around a few people, the ones who got the stories becuase they had the right connections.

In another article Bruner complains that this isn't the first time the school district has changed something in the year book.... (but doesn't elaborate on what).

I wouldn't be shocked if this was a case of a disgruntled employee using a gay students story as a cudgel to hit back at the school district and make the kid feel like shit when it may not of had anything to do with him.

That's the problem with interent reporting though.  It gets all over the place, everyone reads it how they want, and reports the facts back as they read them... except they read them differently, and the chain goes on until the article isn't remotely the same as it was.

I'm not ready to throw them under the bus yet unless I can read a firsthand account of what's censored, what's in the book and the school districts full  position.

Although it is worth noting the story has taken a depressing turn for the worse.

Not surprised to see the "Christians" judging and treating others gracelessly. Disgusting, ugly wastes of clay. Also, LOL at the Adam and Eve comments, that nonsense has been tossed around and revised so many times it's ridiculous. An inconsistent story even by the standards of the Abrahamic religions.

Adam and Eve?  Not sure where that's from.

Outside which, i'm not sure i'd consider it safe to assume the kids are even christian.

Homophobia in schools is generally a widespread occurence that has nothing to do with religion.

Or at least, not the religion practiced.

As most kids are homophobic and pretty much none of them care about religon...  past how it might ruin their weekend if their parents drag them to church

The article mentions that he already announced that he was gay in the social media. So what is the problem then?

Superintendent Haynes says: “We must make decisions that lead in the proper direction for all of our students and for our community,” How is that conflicting with the direction and decision making of the students and the community? I'm sure the straight students will still be straight and that won't affect them.

Also, she mentions: “We must not make decisions based on demands by any special interest group.” Ellis wasn't making any demands to have his story included in his yearbook. Well, not before they removed it, anyway.
