But notice I never mentioned Steam Box but always just said Steam OS? XD

And will steam OS be largely adopted by PC gamers ?

The whole stupid stunts that valve keeps pulling with steambox or steam OS makes me believe that their insane. I thought almost ALL publishers and developers were smart but valve just showed me that their more retarded than EA will ever be.

It's the driver improvement that matters you silly silly man, Linux platform has always suffered from poor driver support, but if there is a decent amount of gaming push on it, that will change, and with proper driver support, A LOT of other useful software will come, not only games, Linux would then become a truly viable alternative unlike the half assed alternative now to everybody at the price of ZERO dollars.

Drivers ? LOLOL

Aside from AMD having some serious problems on the linux side and Nvidia still needing some improvements too but DRIVERS ALONE will NOT PUSH developer to make their game engines support OpenGL.

I keep hearing how about how linux is all about good will but THAT is half assed compared to windows.

I can almost guarantee this simply wont happen.

I've been hoping for it for awhile, Valve has enough resources to make it happen without dumb ass investors butting in and I applaud them for it, at least somebody has an alternative vision. I like disruptions, I like ripples, it's otherwise so boring. It's like, if you look at VR, Oculus was the center of attention for so long that they are the major guys now, but then you have the Sony one announced and things like CastAR on the horizon as well, or the 3D printing world, where things are constantly evolving and changing, then you look at the fucking CPU business, sooooooooooooo boring right now.

You are loling because you are focused on "games" only, look outside that scope and you will see a much bigger things that might happen and that'd be a really good thing. You are thinking way too small.

Then what is the fucking point of steam OS ?

To push for an alternative platform that's not OSX or Windows that's geared towards benefitting the users more than concentrating on money milking, you'd be crazy to think it's a bad thing for us consumers, I'm ALWAYS on the side of consumers.

It won't take off. DX11 has only taken off now, 4 years+ after launch because BOTH consoles support it. Devs won't both if only one console runs it.

Money milking ? Your worried about that ? LOL

I'm not saying that it's a bad thing for consumers but I am not for corporations OR consumers. Like many of the consumers we have ALWAYS valued FUNCTION over half assedness such as linux. Consumers don't care much about software rights as long is it gets the god damned JOB done.

Much like how I would rather AMD quit the CPU business and let intel take over ALL of x86. Unlike AMD, Intel has PROVEN that their not for the MONEY but they are their for the DEVELOPMENT. A monopoly is not BAD if it is DEVELOPMENT driven.

THE PS4 DOESN'T USE DIRECTX. IT USES A CUSTOM API AND THE PS4 HAS MORE FEATURE SETS UNEXPOSED IN IT'S HARDWARE SO EXPECT DX 12 ON GAMES VERY SOON.
