Sony Japan Studio is UNDERRATED not overrated by a long shot.

Well here's a first I actually agree with Bond about something, the Hideo Kojima and MGS part. I don't how he can call Sony's first party overrated when that don't sale nearly as well a lot of the other games out there, with an exception to this being the Last of Us.

Bond is the perfect example of an attention whore on youtube. He finds a topic that will piss a lot of people off and talks about it a negative way. He has done this with Nintendo fans with the Wii U for the last year or so, and now he is moving on to a more vocal fan base, Sony fans apparently. I hope I know is in store for him lol.

His need for attention is legendary on youtube because gets into huge long comment wars with people and he posted upwards to about 60 comments videos I have seen. He even likes to show off pictures of himself with girls "dates", but I'm never sure if he just trying to show off or not.

Why can't people just tug at their mothers dress for attention instead of going to these lengths?

The PS5 Exists.

"Overrated" is just a word that means that for some reason your opinion should be worth more then anyone elses.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Hey you!! READ THE THREAD BEFORE YOU COMMENT!!

;)

I'm glad that the thread title was enough to make you rush in hear with haste.

I have recently stumbled upon a youtube video made by the user Blackbond. In this video, he claims that Hideo Kojima is an overrated developer, Metal Gear Solid is overrated, and he goes on to say that Sony's inhouse studios don't appeal to him and are overrated

Please feel free to watch the video here

Now i wanted to know how you felt about what he is saying in this video. He has mostly been going in on Nintendo for the most part but i guess he may aim the targets at Sony for now lol

I personally respect his opinion on Sony's games not appealing to him but i realized that this whole "overrated" thing has gotten out of hand. People just call anything overrated these days.

He admits that he has never purchased any Sony titles(except for Killzone, legend Of Legaia, Wild Arms, Shadow of the colossus, and Dark Cloud) but still goes on to say that they are the pantheon of overrated games....

.....

How can you claim that a game is overrated if you HAVE NOT PLAYED IT? You admit that you have not purchased The Last Of Us but you still claim that the game is overrated? This is the shit that i'm talking about.

People, you have to PLAY A GAME before you rate/review it. He also admits that he hasn't even really played the Metal Gear Solid games but still caims that they are overrated. You cannot play a game for 5 minutes and determine if it's overrated or not. You have to play it fully or atleast play it for 10 hours to get a good grasp of how the game is.

Blackbond makes sense sometimes but there are also times when he is wrong

So what do you guys think? Is this a good thing to claim games you have not played are overrated? Or should you atleast play the game 1st to determine if it's overrated or not?

Edit: and if you comment on his vids, please try to be civil

But I have played many games that I have not purchased...

I would agree, except for two:

Team Ico, who do amazing work. And Polyphony Digital. I don't care for realistic racing sims (I prefer arcade style racers), but I still understand that when it comes to racing sims, GT is one of the best, and that they are very well made games.

Because their mothers are at work.

Especially if the guy didn't play any of the games, it's like "I talk out of my ass, and that's a lot more relevant than the opinion of millions of players".

But I agree with him about Kojima. He's mostly doing the same licence once every 4 years for about 20 years. For MGS, I don't know... I don't really like the game, but I didn't start with the PS1 games and understand nothing at the story and controls.

The rule of thumb is this :

If a game is widely lauded as a 10/10 by reviewers, but me and 10 friends think it's an average to slightly above-average title, I'll consider it officially overrated by consensus.

If a game is widely lauded as a 10/10 by reviewers, but I think it's average, but most/all of my friends think it's excellent, I'll consider it not overrated, but rather just not my cup of tea.

The converse is true with underrated titles.

Objectivity >>>>>> Subjectivity (even though true objectivity in judging abstracts such as 'fun' and 'art' is fundamentally impossible to achieve perfectly).

Anyway, all of this is why I stress terms like 'imho', or 'as far as I'm concerned', or 'for me personally'.

Stating 'I don't care much for X' is so much more sensible and less trollish than 'X sucks dog crap', and anything is better than tools who say things like 'If you like (or don't like) X then you are an /'.
