You've never used VR have you? I suppose the people who have actually tried it and said that it adds immeasurably to the gameplay experience are all wrong.

And you need to go check the definition of gimmick.

This is not a gimmick. You people who imagine that you won't have money for a headset and are therefore making so much noise should STOP.

What's your agenda!? The FACT is people freak out when they play OR because it's an amazing new experience. And the OR was very low res and low quality. This is going to be incredible. 

Do you remember when HD tvs came out and the same shit was happening!?

It's still a gimmick. Gimmicks can be fun, though.

The only one freaking out is you. I have no agenda.  I just believe if 3D TV, 3D Blu-ray, and 3D video streaming still haven't caught on, it's silly to believe VR will catch on in the mainstream.

I don't recall anyone calling HDTV a gimmick...


It's not about it becoming majorly successful.

It's about VR being a much more immersive way to play games. And you all are playing it down even though the experience it self is a true next step in gaming. 

This also has nothing to do with 3D TV. VR is a major leap in playing videogames. That you will come to learn is a fact. HD was also a major step in (console) gaming,

Why are these exclusive if not simply to try to take a cheap shot and attempt to elevate yourself. Youre on an online message board dedicated to videogames yet feel youre in a position to enlighten us on embracing "real reality".

You better start now on your crusade and start knocking on every door to try and organize a daily round table to discuss things in "real reality" and stop using this.....interweb.

Too soon to say.

Presence is certainly a gimmick at this stage, but hopefully VR games move beyond that. If they do, VR gaming will be the next big thing.

Personally I love it and am fully on board.

And we are in agreement. I think this is a huge step backward if this is what Sony is planning on pushing as tehefuture of the PS brand vs somethign like PSNow across multiple manufacturer devices.

Never will be accepted. See Virtual Boy and 3D T.V.s To have to wear something indoors, over your eyes is a hard adjustment for the human brain. Also See the cool guys that wear sunglasses indoors are they really that cool or are they just big douchebags.

I don't think it needs to sell 100 million units to be successful.

Plenty of people are willing to wear giant head sets while playing COD online, so I think over time that issue will fade.

It definitely changes the gaming experience.

Also the industry isn't just 14 year old kids that have to ask mommy or daddy for every piece of game hardware they buy. For plenty of adults, $250-$300 is nothing, that's the price of a cheap tablet.

If the experience is *compelling* enough, then I think there will be people who want to try it.

Motion controls aren't really a gimmick, they're a legitimate interface. I think it's mostly just fans of Sony that call it that because they were unsuccessful with it and they want to illogically discredit the companies that used it to beat Sony for over half a decade.
