I totally agree that what Microsoft paid EA probably wouldnt cover it.

Titanfall is too much of an event game and the media has been riding its dick so hard that I just don't see it. |
The media has been riding Titanfalls dick to hard and blew its load leaving Titanfall players with inevitable dissapointment with the games performance.
Infamous Second Son has shown what it can do but not everything leaving something back to impress us with on the day of release.
This is the Game of Thrones
Where you either win
or you DIE
One thing people ignore is the fact that Titanfall would be a near non-entity if Microsoft hadn't sunk what clearly amounts to tens of millions of dollars worth of marketing into it.
Its all well and good to say that it would have sold millions on PS4. But ultimately Sony is neither known for its shooters, or its ability to market individual games as well as Microsoft. If Titanfall had been multiplat or Sony-exclusive, it just wouldn't have ever become as big a deal.
The whole argument is a giant, irrelevant what-if!
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
Guy sounds very much up his own ass, can't take this seriously.

How do you know that it wouldn't have been just as big though? Doesn't that contradict your "what if" logic. I believe imo that it would have been just as big because then EA would have marketed accordingly to fill their shooter hole that Medal of Honor now gives them. Since EA won't do an annual release of BF along with MoH flopping and with a lot of negative reception of performance for BF it would have provided EA a little cushion for the backlash they continue to get for BF.
Add this to other 3rd party games that either get direct marketing from their own publishers or MS/Sony doing cross marketing on their behalf. (Exclusive logo on commercials etc.) A game doesn`t have to be exclusive to a be a big deal. If the game or franchise is great it will blow up on it`s own merits like CoD, AC, BF, Batman etc..
"With the release of Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall on the PC and Xbox One, you would think that Microsoft’s Xbox One would begin the counter-attack on the PS4. However, as the NPD’s February report indicates, there are already signs of the sales gap diminishing between the two consoles."
Why would February numbers reflected anything to do with Titanfall boosting X1 sales? Titanfall released well into March. If anything with about 1 week left in February when the word of the Titanfall bundle (Console and Game for the $500 rather then just console for $500) certainly hurt end of the month sales.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I have to say that is one way I didn't see it, and it makes sense.
Titanfall has being hyped as the game of the Generation the absolute real next gen while it's on Xbox360 too. All those 75 awards and other things have been put in everyone face day in and day out.
Infamous is right around the corner but it is more like PS users on the internet are the one that are teaching and telling people about the game.
But Sony has gotten a lot better at marketing. The PS4 is right now selling on hype alone
