Forums - Nintendo - Bravely Default Outsells FF Lightning Returns In US (BD= 200k+)

Its not impressive. Its sad. How does Square still employ that incompetent team that is destroying their brand.

How many more disasters do they need before they fire them?

He left out that the numbers are including digital sales.

Aha.  Thanks you two.

Physical + digital for one game vs. physical only for another.  Always the basis of a good comparison.

I believe they sold similar physically (Around 160k to 165), and BD sold a lot digitally, 40K is the number I see on Gaf. So it is very possible that BD did outsell LR.

Can anybody tell me how BRavely Default compares to the demo???
I was really pumped for this game until I played the demo...
I just didn't find it engaging...
If anyone thinks the demo doesn't do the game justice, I would love to hear from you...

Have a nice day...

if you're not into the combat, I'm not sure what to say but even without playing the full game yet, I'm not surprised at what everyone has said. The demo was an interesting idea but desperately needed a narrative reason to care and it...doesn't. Even considering how the first 2-5 hours are almost always the weakest parts of JRPGs, that demo had nothing.

The past year has been proof for Nintendo that demos are awful and need to stop.

...But... Nintendo didn't make that demo... and this game and Fire Emblem both sold very well. If anything I think Nintendo is warming to the idea of demos to promote less mainstream games.

Nintendo published the game and is the only reason it came over here so...yeah...reasonable to assume the demo is on them.

And most people were less interested after playing it, the game did well because people want to play a good JRPG on their 3DS, it was marketed decently and had a lot of hype beforehand. Demo had no related positive effect.

Clearly we didn't play the same demo. Anectodal evidence, but two friends and I both decided to get the game after enjoying it so much. I wish more RPG demos took this route.

OT: I haven't played Lightning Returns, but I'm really glad to see Bravely Default selling so well. Really does deserve the sales. I'm looking forward to Bravely Second making its way over here (though I should probably beat this one before thinking about the next game, heh heh).

It's always good to see a JRPG selling well.

Very impressive.

I've been tempted to buy it, but my 3DS backlog is already big enough.

Dont, seriously.  I love old school jrpg's and while the gameplay in bravely default is pretty good, everything else about the game is incredibly bad.  Seriously, i cant really describe whats bad without spoilers, but it is really bad.

Good news! But both are great games! As long as they both sell well enough, I'm happy and considering they both made the top 10 NPD for February, I'm fairly staisfied, though I'd wish they would sell a little better yet.
