Forums - Gaming - Do you think EA will improve their reputation?

I doubt it.

EA keeps having lots of anti-consumer measures. Be it splitting a game before release for DLC, putting unrealistic expectations on a franchise and canceling it without due support. Shutting down perfectly good studios after they run down they franchises by dumbing them down or particioning them into micro-transactions.
I have plenty of examples. Theres no shortage.

Simcity? Over after the debocle of not having offline mode and troubled online launch.
Dead Space? Over after they turned it into a micro-transaction hell.
Command and Conquer? Over after they closed westwood studios and put some studios that dont know what they are doing working on it.

This is just a small sample of what EA does. Their strategy mostly passes by aquisition of studios and then monetising all their IP's. They lose popularity and dont grow because of this and EA closes them down. Its a sort of cannibalism of developers. Theres more examples like criterion aswell.
I am seriously worried about Bioware, because it will be just a matter of time.

They have a lot of good games (Dead Space, dragon Age, bettelfield, Dante's inferno amazing games) but they r an evil and rotten company.

EA, they bought some of the best studio in west(bioware, visceral, dice, criterion). And they did great games. The problem is not exactaly the developers, because they make good games. The problem is some decisions in corporate and techinicial level. Like, its ok to put out frostibe 3 even if they didn't manage to remove the great level of bugs on the engine.

There is origin too. Ok, when steam launched and half life 2 was exclusive, their get bashed too. And for some time everybody hated steam(i included). Now everybody loves it. But, origin has a uphill battle ahead, and yet, it seems that so litle have been learned. They are to pushing to much, but they don't do enough to justify its existance. But this actually the one point that i believe that will get better with the time.

But there is the business decisions. And is there that they fail the most with the consumer. Overpromisse every new iteration of fica, maiden, and etc. Regular use of DLC on all their games, and introducing microtransactions on games that already you paid for. Push all franchises on a browser game/mobile game. And what concers me is that they actually don't see nothing wrong with all that. In fact, they are trained this way, to think that way, to squeeze money of everyone that is willing to bit. This is the future of EA, and they not intend to change this:

So yeah, some things can get better, but other won't because is not profitable for them.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Nope. They think its ok to launch a game in any state and add patches later when they feel like it.
Its about time the law changed to allow refunds on faulty games.

They gave me Mass Effect 2 and 3, Need for Speed Most Wanted U and Rivals, Battlefield Bad Company 2 and 4 too. It'll take a lot for me to hate EA.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Good point.. cant forget about that fact boys :) .... Plus the sims!!! not that u guys care lol..

I had this discussion about EA a few days back.

EA games tend so sell really, really well. Take from that what you will. People like EA.

Origin charges me in local currency and if I don't like their games, I can return them. What's this anti consumer conspiracy cause I don't see it.

i don't really follow the publishers too close to even care. i buy what i want when it's a price i deem fair.

it make far more sense to follow a developer, imo. some studios have earned their reputations for creating quality games and other have earned their shitty reputations. the publisher has little to do with that in the grand scale.

But EA are a developer as well as a publisher, meaning they have strong control over alot of there studios

i'm just saying EA makes a lot of games.  most i won't care about but a name like viseceral (RIP) would grab my attention.

I agree anyway was just making a point that EA is not just a pub, i do have friends that wont touch EA products, but conveniently they all seem to have forgot Titanfall is an EA product :)

I dont think there totally innocent, but they make so many games, i think anytime one of their devs does screw up, people are more than willing just to play it on EA Head office.

EA spent years earning their bad rap... people will remember that stigma exponentially longer even after EA stops being suck dicks. Oh and EA ditching Nintendo completely (even with the licensed sports games) has them in my do-not-buy list for the foreseeable future.
