Forums - Gaming - Do you think EA will improve their reputation?

Let's not start this thread with EA is pure evil and blah blah like that. It's not like Nintendo or a dozen other companies are completely perfect right now.. Anyway, EA. They still are a company and I just wanted to know if a lot of people are THAT negative about them that they will never forgive them. As of right now they're not doing that many wrong things in my opinion. Garden Warfare is surprisingly good, The Sims 4 is partly being developed by Maxis and speaking of Sims, Simcity is getting an offline mode. Yeah, it may be too late, but at least it happens. Some things they have done in the past have been ridiculous, but I'm certain they aren't going to keep their wrong behaviour forever, at least not all of it. Maybe I'm just totally wrong here but I really don't think EA's acting horrible as of right now as they did some years back. What about you?

The funny thing is, EA makes a lot of really good games. I'd take them over Activision any day, for example. They're willing to try different things, like Titanfall and Mirror's Edge. Also, of course, they have BioWare, which is one of the best.

They do a lot of things that are intended purely to make money, yes, but that's true of a lot of other companies. If they don't make money, they'll go out of business. They deserve their fair share of criticism, certainly, but sometimes it gets a little crazy.

At the end of the day, they're still one of the most important players in the industry.

It has been a transitional generation of consoles with more companies trying out different approaches to DRM and stuff... and EA hasn't been entirely lucky in that regard.

Yep.

EA come across as too money hungry instead of customer friendly, lack of care in pursuit of money basically. This is it's main problem. Releasing a game regardless of if it's finished then patch it later (because everyone has a net connection). DLC (day one and expensive too). Releasing some games quickly and cheaply made to cash in on a titles popularity (Dragon Age 2).

They can get away with these things because there are many out there, not just us internet forum dwellers, that just don't care or buy the stuff anyway. Year in year out, they will always buy FIFA, or a Need for Speed because that is what they do. A new Bioware game comes out they buy it. Even though the ending of ME3 was hated by many, people still bought the microtransactions on MP and day one dlc.

They can do it all because of us and they will continue doing it until it becomes less profitable. They won't change either.

Good customer interaction can go a long way and can bring in more money than just churning out more DLC to close that loss in revenue from everyone boycotting their work.

Hmm, pie.

Sure they will... to worst company level 2

It's not possible to fix what is essentially a widespread meme on the internet now.
They could buy Valve and force them to develop all titles with a 3 at the end and people would still hate them.

I still don't care. If they don't stop releasing great games I won't stop buying their games.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Did you see what they did to PvZ2?! I know you it's just a iPad game, but you have to buy lawnmowers now. The same lawnmowers that used to be replaced automatically before an update now have to be replaced with in game gold. They want you to buy that in game gold with real money. Oh, and dungeon keeper on mobile is horrible.

PvZ garden warfare is excellent and I think Titanfall should have had a similar price. They could have added game modes or maps to make up for lack of SP. So, not that bad when it comes to consoles. Horrible when it comes to mobile.

i don't really follow the publishers too close to even care. i buy what i want when it's a price i deem fair.

it make far more sense to follow a developer, imo. some studios have earned their reputations for creating quality games and other have earned their shitty reputations. the publisher has little to do with that in the grand scale.

But EA are a developer as well as a publisher, meaning they have strong control over alot of there studios

i'm just saying EA makes a lot of games.  most i won't care about but a name like viseceral (RIP) would grab my attention.
