Forums - Gaming - Super Smash Bros. director impressed with PlayStation 4

not that money is the only motivator but it is a big one.  if he's freelance than sony really should try and get him for a project.  even just having his name attached to the next playstation all stars would so the series wonders.

..it really was a good game overall.   the menus were flat for sure.  certainly a bit low on game modes.  but the core gameplay was a lot of fun.  even so, smash is the better game so any chance for improvement should be ceased.

Sakurai's modern design philosophy seems to center around cramming games full of enormous amounts of content and taking advantage of unique or new features made available by the hardware. His games tend to have lengthy production times.

Honestly, this is all somewhat at odds with what PSASBR turned out to be. I think if Sony was interested in spending the money required to make a Smash Bros-caliber game, they would have done so the first time around, regardless of Sakurai's involvement.

Now we are discussing this: what is the true relation with sakurai and nintendo? I know he created kirby and kid ikarus, but i'm not sure if he still work on a nintendo owned studio, like hal laboratory.

He left HAL and founded his own company Sora. That is nothing big - it's basically himself as freelancer to support every team he want:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sora_Ltd.

Don't mix it up with Project Sora, that was temporarily founded as developing studio for Kid Icarus: Uprising.

So theoretically he could work for non-Nintendo-platforms. But he still has good contacts with Iwata (from their time at HAL) and Iwata is clever enough to keep Sakurai busy with Nintendo-games and so far it works.

Let's see what he does after Smash Bros. Maybe he wants to make a PS4-game then.

Isn't it Nintendo official policy to not give two shits about the competition? lol seriously

What does Sakurai care about Nintendo policies, he is an indie dev.

Sakurai games quite a bit, and his tastes are pretty varied. I remember an interview where he was saying he doesn't plan to have any DLC for the new Smash Bros. He said that he would rather make sure to release a complete game then have something like day 1 DLC. He then went on to say that he doesn't mind DLC done right, however, and talks about how he is a big fan of Fall Out 3's DLC. Thought that was cool to hear from a guy that's basically a Nintendo dev.

He didn't even mention the Xbox 1 and he looks like a woman.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
