Nintendo's E3 2014...

No conference, only Nintendo Direct 68 32.08%

... I have learned. Modest hype this time 59 27.83%

Hype throught the roof 58 27.36%

My hype like the Wii U sales, null 25 11.79%

Total:210

A bit early since I bet there will be at least 1 small Nintendo Direct before E3, but.

1. A handful of new 3DS games are announced. Advance Wars 3DS, Pokemon Z, and maybe a new Metroid.

2. Info on the regulars, Bayonetta 2, Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors, etc/

3. A vague 2015 release date for X and a new trailer. Maybe a name too.

4. At least 1 new WiiU game is announced. likely Animal Crossing or some other long standing Nintendo series.

5. A more 3DS & 3DS XL redesign with a better battery.

so is it confirmed Nintendo is doing a E3 conference this year?

Not still. We are waiting for April or May announcement.

I just wonder if they're going to do E3 direct again, or try to push it more.

The direct approach has advantages, but don't get enough visibility. Perhaps a pre-recorded video but still run through the Kodak Theatre (or whatever venue), to avoid the hiccups that plague live Keynotes, but get the hype out more at the same time.

90 minutes shouldn't be hard to scrape together. Maybe emphasize the Watch Dogs version that's pushed back. Airtime for Sonic Boom. Maybe a third party surprise or two.

3DS will be the interesting one. There's not much going on there.

I tried to predict if it will be a conference or a Direct, but honestly can't. They can go with any of the two or maybe both of them. Who knows.

The middle route seems to be the best one. The doubters were correct in that an E3 Direct is simply not on the same level as a keynote in terms of generating buzz or (perhaps more importantly), getting non-Nintendo-aligned gamers who are just watching all the proceedings on Spike TV, since then you have to go out of your way to find it, which is certainly counterintuitive (though for online watchers, streams are available on all the major press sites).

At the same time, you dodge stuff that makes Skyward Sword look like an unplayable mess due to signal interference (E3 2010) or audio-cutouts (Crimson Dragon, Microsoft E3 2013, totally mute). Keynote speakers often seem awkward and unprepared, too, and the Direct is more focused with less garbage (there will be no "Ravi Drums" in any Nintendo Direct, for instance, or, i think it was Usher at one of Microsoft's? Yeah. None of that).

So the format is good, it just needs to be disseminated in such a way as to make it really feel impactful. A live screening in front of an audience could work, as you get applause (usually. Run the risk of live negative audience reactions, but you do that with a big expensive keynote, too)

Yeah, it's a good idea and at least they should try it.

Optimistic as always.

Sorry but don't see any negative. Just Zelda being delayed to the successor or TP'd. I believe it's their best card to start the next generation.

Oh, also because of the mass fan requests, the success of Ocarina of Time 3D, and the fact that a Majora's Mask CD was this years Club Nintendo reward, I'm also pretty sure that a Majora's Mask 3D remake is also going to be announced, with a release date during fall 2014 (or worst case spring 2015)

I didn't new about the MM CD. Thanks.

They will definitely show Zelda, to release in 2015. I also expect a name and release date of Nov-Jan for "X". We should also get a new IP or 2 - definitely the NFC game. We'll get Smash's release date if it isn't known by then.

There may also be some fun stuff like a 3DS redesign, a Wii U redesign, the new QoL product, another GCHD title (probably Mario Sunshine).

I think we will get a conference but won't get any info about Retro's game. I think there is a good chance of MM3D, as well as Monolithsoft's 3DS title.

I'd be very happy to see the announcement of Last Story 2.

Where does anything say Monolith is making a 3DS title? I'm just curious, because this is news to me.

I though OP was going to have constructive preview of Nintendo's E3 2014 but instead he's just Nintendo bashing.

I think this year, Nintendo will have a much greater E3 presence. But, The focus will be split 50/50 between the 3DS and WiiU.

E3 2014 prediction:

1. Retro new games announcement.
2. Nintendo will announce their big Holiday lineup.
3. Current games already announce will overshadow new games announcement, Super Smash Bros WiiU, Bayonetta 2, Yarn Yoshi.
4. Finish the E3 presentation with new holidays bundles, price drop on current bundles and new Mario Kart WiiU bundle.
5. HD remake of 5 major Wii tiles, Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Legends of Zelda: Skyward sword, Metroid Prime 3 & Metroid: Other M.
6. Monolith X's will be pushed back to Spring 2015.
7. New star fox and Metroid game announcement.
8. 3DS adapter for WiiU allowing you to play 3DS games on WiiU.
9. WiiU eshop will greatly increase the classic library.
