Outside holidays and in a market with practically zero interest in home consoles; it did pretty well. More or less what I expected (off by 80 FW though) but Japan won't be a deciding factor in the 8th gen, for anyone.

I thought it would be higher, but I also thought sony had more aside for Japan.

I wonder where the shipmenta are going...only 350k in Japan and it STILL being out of stock everywhere. Production issues?

I think there are some production issues but, I said this on a post on the PS Nation thread with reasons, I still think Sony is producing just over 1m a month.

Every thread you make is a negative one.

Are there any other launch markets in the near future for the PS4?

With only 350k being shipped in Japan, did you somehow expect it to sell more than that?

Note: Media Create insiders also confirmed that Sony shipped 350,000 PS4 units at launch in Japan, so the company sold almost all that it could manufacture, pointing towards a stronger Japanese market than many had expected.

Problem. Nintendo sold out its first launch.  The reason for it being low is because general demand is low.

Some Ps4 fans seem to think Ps4 is going to destroy all trends every home console had last gen and grow.

I'm starting to think it's not because they actually believe it will happen but they want it to happen.

Ps4 going to hit 90,000 my prediction than there will be excuses. Demand or under stock even though nothing to prove it.

than it will hit 40,000 same excuse.  Going into March.

Than 20,000 (lol it's doing better than wiiu at least) second week of March.

than 14,000 same as last week and continue excuses.

8,000 it will come back when final fanasty 14.

7,000 e3 2014 ff14 released 2015. It will recover whenever it comes out!

I think people have understood that the console market in Japan wasnt what it once was. But I think we have to take it into account:

1. It sold more at launch than Wii-u did which launched in the holiday period.

2. It's unlikely that the XboxOne will sell any where near this figure on launching in Japan.

3. It's another 320K+ onto the worldwide sales figures, creating a further gap between PS4/XboxOne and making the PS4 over take the Wii-u in only 3 months, when many people were saying it would be end of 2014/2015.

So I cant see how this is a negative to be fair. Sony will have the best selling console in Japan this generation by the looks of things. It may not sell massively but considering the condition of the market it will still be better than their competitors, with it looking likely at the moment that they might take some market share back and sell better than the PS3... I dont see how they can do anything more :)

So they shipped 350k and sold 322k and everyone is saying they failed? I'm guessing the only way any of you would consider the amount sold a success is if they sold every single one of the 350k they shipped.

Every console drops heavily in Japan after launch. Especially one that isn't coming out during the holidays. But I don't think the PS4 will fall under 10k, my guess is that it will stabilize at 10-15k.
