Forums - Microsoft - Stephen Elop to be put in charge of Xbox?

Dude who wants to kill off Xbox is now in charge of Xbox. Makes sense.

In the eyes of some gamers who have fallen away from the Microsoft brand what else could he do wrong really? Add a robot arm to each new X1 that tries to strangle you while you game? From the sounds of it the guy has some ideas about streamlining the business to make it profitable, hopefully that doesn't mean they'll try to weasel more money outta people with microtransactions selling us bits and pieces of what should be full retail games... but only time will tell.

It's good that they picked someone who's passionate about gaming and the Xbox...right?

But in all seriousness I do wish they would pick somebody who gave a damn about the product.

Xbox isn't the only product he's looking over. Which is why we have Phil Spencer and Phil Harrison.

That's true, but they could have at least picked someone who didn't come out publicly saying he wanted to get rid of the brand. Not that it really makes much difference, I'm just being pedantic.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Wow, this is an odd choice. I have a feeling he might be super cutthroat. He doesn't look like someone who games.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

OMG

Do you think that the higher ups would put the guy in charge if he didn't have a change in philosophy/thinking? I mean it was said back in November that he would consider to do this. We are almost in March.

The man would be a great choice

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Why does this guy even still have a job? Wasn't he the guy who ran Nokia into the ground by missing foresight?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Well it can mean only one thing.  So tell us... what is this?

I'm interested in your take on it. What does it tell you?

Besided the usual "it was expected, we saw it coming and other such vague terms of course..

I think it is an excellent idea to have the people that designed the Nokia devices in charge of the division at MS that has the responsibility of designing consumer hardware.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
