Could only mean one thing...

oh please, do enlighten us...

How come you're always in need of more enlightenment?

Well it can mean only one thing.  So tell us... what is this?

I'm interested in your take on it. What does it tell you?

Besided the usual "it was expected, we saw it coming and other such vague terms of course..

Well, like everyone else here, I have absolutely no idea. He is an employee and will do as his seniors tell him, he will tow the party line.  He has been earmarked for the job since September of last year and was a shoe-in.

But you seem to know better, as it can "mean only ONE thing"... so what is it?

I think it means they want to do things his way...

Do we know anything about what he would do?

That isnt what you meant and that isnt what it means.

You were inferring that the rumours (and they are only rumours) of him wanting to get rid of xbox should he become the boss of Microsoft will now surely happen.

So let me get this logic straight.

Ballmer, knowing Elop would get rid off Xbox, puts the guy in the frame to run xbox, before xbox one is even launched.  So they spend billions developing and releasing a new console knowing the new boss of xbox would spin it off?

Genius!

All i see are assumptions on your part. You shouldn't fill in what people might be thinking, it's counterproductive, especially in discussions forums like this one.

And what does getting rid of Xbox mean in your vision anyways? Are you picturing it like someone selling stuff on e-Bay or what?

I dont think its a good idea. Look at what happened to nokia. Elop is a Flop.

So you ignore my very salient points and become all sarcastic...

1. whatever you say.

2. for someone that get all uppity at me for being patronising and having a "tone".... you are do a good job.  Dont talk to me like I'm an idiot pal.

You're forgetting about option;

3. You could just NOT reply to my comment when you're not ready to have a discussion, in which you've appointed yourself to being right beforehand. Saves us both the trouble. Don't you agree?

Rather than selling the game division IMO they should make an alliance/partnership with Nintendo.

Have Ken Lobb head up a joint Microsoft-Nintendo game studio, he knows Nintendo well as he worked for NOA in the past.

Hand over the development of future Halo/Gears titles to be overseen by Nintendo, they will ensure a good quality product. Give Nintendo the keys back to Rare and let them oversee 343 Studios.

If they sell to Amazon, Amazon is pushing the Android OS (or their own version of it). I don't know how that would sit with Microsoft ... Nintendo is obviously no threat to them OS wise. I think Nintendo has been humbled enough that they could be decent stewarts of MS' gaming assets.

I believe they tried it before the original XBox without success. Nintendo isn't a good partner, they usually prefer doing things their own way.

Dude who wants to kill off Xbox is now in charge of Xbox. Makes sense.

Well, he actually killed Nokia while in charge of Nokia, so at least they are following a pattern...

first he is not in charge of the Xbox division he is in charge to the hardware division... which includes the Xbox.... huge difference.... second he still wouldn't have any power of decision on whether Xbox should go or not... he might have leverage but won't be the one making the decision and the true head of the Xbox division will be the one making the report and assessment with elop putting in his recommendation on top.... personally I have zero worries.... and no elop didn't destroy nokia... sure things might have been done better in some cases.... but it would have been way worst if it had stayed the course it was on....

BTW that news is not news... we've known that possibility since the Nokia phone buy out was announced for people that really follow MS business news....

So a guy who wants Xbox gone is going to report out to his bosses all the good things its been doing??? LOL   Reality is it will probably be the other way around.

you know you can make graphs or pie charts to make your point about a product and thats what i expect from Elop is alot of look how bad we're doing lets sell it. You did make me laugh tho almost spit out my drink. thanks
