Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Releasing Wii Sports Club Bundle in Japan

Why not a new game with new sports and on a disc? Honestly if Nintendo were smart every Wii U would have been bundled with Wii Sports U since launch.

Because Wii Fit U and Wii Party U are doing gangbusters?

People don't want new sports either, they liked golf, tennis, bowling, and occassionally baseball because those make sense with a Wiimote. Wii lacross or soccer (strap the Wiimote to your foot?) or cricket don't have the same appeal.

Mario & Sonic has a ton of different other sports that work with varying results using the Wiimote.

The time of Wii Sports/Fit/Party is generally over. Kinect Sports on XB1 won't sell that great either, watch. The "here's 10 mini-games for $50!" formula is tired and boring. Dressing it up with new sports that don't really even work well with a motion controller aren't going to help.

But sure, bundle it if they want. It won't make a big difference in hardware sales. The Wii U in Japan has been bundled with the Wiimote + Wii Party + Karaoke Joysound or Wii Fit U + NSMBU for months now ... that's a pretty freaking casual friendly setup as is, that hasn't stopped its sales from dropping like a rock after the holidays (no different from the GameCube).

Nintendo still doesn't want to accept it that the Wii __ series is dead! Well at least they're not sitting back twiddling their fingers like they were this time last year.

This won't do anything, Japan has shown they're not interested in WiiU after DK and Super Mario didn't give WiiU any momentum.

Pathetic details just released:

There are some more details to report on the reveal of yesterday's Wii Sports Club Wii U Bundle heading to Japan. Sounds like the deal might not be as sweet as we originally thought.

- includes Bowling, Tennis, and Golf in offline-mode only
- cannot be upgraded (you can't get additional sports or get online)
- save data is not compatible with the standard Wii Sports Club

Proud poster of the 10000th reply at the Official Smash Bros Update Thread.

tag - "I wouldn't trust gamespot, even if it was a live comparison."

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Not going to do anything because to the average person it looks like the exact same thing as Wii... which they already own.

Needs to somehow demonstrate the upgraded features and gamepad usage.

Wow, that stinks.  Seems like they rushed it to prevent another sales collapse in Japan (too late anyway).  They could have at least waited for the last two sports and given it online play.

LoL. How does any one still support this company? They are so ass backwards!

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.
