Because Wii Fit U and Wii Party U are doing gangbusters?
People don't want new sports either, they liked golf, tennis, bowling, and occassionally baseball because those make sense with a Wiimote. Wii lacross or soccer (strap the Wiimote to your foot?) or cricket don't have the same appeal.
Mario & Sonic has a ton of different other sports that work with varying results using the Wiimote.
The time of Wii Sports/Fit/Party is generally over. Kinect Sports on XB1 won't sell that great either, watch. The "here's 10 mini-games for $50!" formula is tired and boring. Dressing it up with new sports that don't really even work well with a motion controller aren't going to help.
But sure, bundle it if they want. It won't make a big difference in hardware sales. The Wii U in Japan has been bundled with the Wiimote + Wii Party + Karaoke Joysound or Wii Fit U + NSMBU for months now ... that's a pretty freaking casual friendly setup as is, that hasn't stopped its sales from dropping like a rock after the holidays (no different from the GameCube).
