Forums - Microsoft - Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare Is “Always Online” On Xbox, Won’t Work Offline At All

Oh man, so many gamers that are so far behind the curve. Always online has been the standard for many games within the computer industry for years and years (WOW being a good example), so why is it so hard for console gamers to accept that this is the standard that will be set from here on out?

Internet access shouldn´t be an issue anymore, just saying.

Because WoW is an MMO with no single player mode, and PvZ does have a single player mode? Can someone explain why that part of the game should require the console be online? It can't use the authentication excuse that many PC games use, as consoles are a walled garden so piracy is much smaller.

I'm having a go at MS here, as its most likely EA's policy, but to date I haven't heard a valid reason why a single player game needs to be connected on a console? Other than 'all games are doing it, get with the program'.

It's an online multi-player game. Would be nice if it has a single player mode so I can learn how to play. But otherwise, like they said like WoW or any other MMO/on-line multi-player.

I think the reactions are a bit out of line.

The reactions are typical and divisive.

What do you expect from here now?

Well, true.  But it does damage the chance to bring in new people to the site.  Especially now with all these 'MS/Xbox desperate/failing threads' when it is in reality doing great.  Still outselling the 360 and crushing the PS3 sales over the same time.

PS4 is doing well. You think that would be enough for some people.  But they need to hate on what they perceive as their biggest competition.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
