What a tragedy. A quick draw and demand for dropping the "weapon" would've been more status quo I would think. Gun safety is an important part of ownership, especially for a police officer. Watch for people to blame the gun and not the person holding now.

Cops have to start to be REAL cops and not Terminators. If a guy fucking kills you is a fucking disgrace but he will die in the electric chair, thats what it is for. You cant fight violence with violence, that doesnt work, how many innocent deaths we have to see until something significant is done...
oh right, the weapon industry,,,far more important than a kids life, thats the world we live in.

I actually didn't think about it this way. When you think about it. When you're in the wild-west, it's often going to be shoot them or risk being shot. This is the major problem with American brain-washing into thinking having more guns means more safety. The US has way more guns than any other developed country, and as a result, they have a murder rate of a third world country. People are afraid in the US because of all the guns and murders, and this includes the police officers.

Running the risk of being shot is part of the job of being a police officer. Don't want to take the risk, don't be a cop. People should never have to assume they will be shot for answering a door. The cop should have ordered him to "drop the weapon".

Naturally she won't be punished. She should be tried with manslaughter.

I remember another story where a man was fatally shot because he was pulling out his wallet to show ID. Cop said he thought it was a gun. Another kid was shot to death by a cop because he was carrying a toy gun. None of these cops were ever held accountable for the death of these people. It is total nonsense.

She should be severely punished. This is murder. 

That is if someone has a visible weapon holstered or in a movie, If you point a gun at a cop you will be put down.

Doesn't matter how old this kid was you're going to see pictures of them as a baby or from at least 5 years ago in loads of police brutality stories where people were just hungry for this ammo to try and disarm law enforcement, there will probably be a number of cops killed by criminals because of the backlash of what extra buerocracy is added to a cop pulling out their weapon in a envoirment they feel threatened in future.

I don't think so. they maybe a bit weaker from a phisical standpoint but that can be evened out with technic in a lot of situations

I don't think they are in any form weaker when it comes to mental stress etc.

overall I have the impression that american officers draw their gun way quicker than in any other country due to the fact that so many people have guns. there are so many news stories where inocent people get shot or situations get solved by killing the criminal. remember the guy on times square in 2012 ? there were about 20 cops with their guns out against one man with a knive.

its an american problem... i know a cop in germany that was shot by an old man in the hand. the old man was sick and didnt know what he was doing, and the cop didnt pulled his gun and shot the guy. because thats not how a good policeman acts.
