Enough and pokemon is easily my favorite. From my experience, typical good jrpg games do good with story but pokemon excels in gameplay thanks to the endless choices and great competitive play along with the art design

Pokemon's my favorite franchise which also happens to be an RPG. Here are some others I've played:

Played all the main entry Pokemon games, plus all spinoffs
Lost Odyssey
Magna Carta 2
Eternal Sonata
Final Fantasy 13 & 13-2
Tales of Vesperia, Xillia, Graces F, Abyss
Code of Princess
Shin Megami Tensei 4
Paper Mario (All entries)
Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn & Fire Emblem Awakening
Ni No Kuni
Dragon's Crown
Mario and Luigi (All Entries)

Probably missed a few, but that's most of them.

I don't really get the point of this thread either. If the point was to showcase that Pokemon fans haven't played that many JRPG, obviously that would be the case.

The best selling JRPG is Pokemon, obviously they have more fans in that series. It would be like asking a person who loves Grand Theft Auto, if they like other open-world modern settings sandbox games. You will encounter huge sample size, that hasn't.

I really hope the point of this thread wasn't to showcase something like that.

Given within in this thread, you got avid pokemon fans saying they played a tons of JRPGs as well. So not necessarily proving the point I stated, that is as obvious.

You're just assuming that I, as a Pokemon Fan, think that Pokemon is one of the best RPGs out there. Who says I think that? Who says I think XIII/2 are bad games? I don't.

When it's all you've played and there's nothing to really compare it to, then of course you won't think it's bad

The original Dragon Warrior is not a very good game, but I thought it was amazing back when it was the only RPG I've played.  A unique experience compared to other games I've played, but well over a few hundred, both JRPGs and WRPGs, and I can say that while I've played worse, it's very close to one of the worst in the genre.

I have played multiple RPGs, though. Did you not see my list? If you are counting out Pokemon, then stop. It's a reputible RPG to base things off of. Same goes for Dragon Quest, Paper Mario, and Kingdom Hearts. Each of those series had great games. Just because I think XIII/2 are good or bad doesn't mean I have nothing to compare them to.

At first you said I had nothing to go off of so of course I thought FF XIII/2 was bad/think Pokemon is better, now you're saying I have nothing to go off of so of course I think they are good...?

Edit: I forgot to mention in my list that I played one of the Mario and Luigi games.

Well as I stated, in the thread, if you're so into gaming that you're going to be be a regular on a gaming forum, then you're going to have a broader variety of titles than your average gamer.  With less than 40 JRPGs listed with well over a few hundred being localized in the west, most of those being from the same few series, Pokemon fans stating an opinion of it being one of the best JRPGs and denying anything else they haven't played is more like an uneducated guess.

That's like if someone said Resident Evil 6 was an amazing game because it was not only the only Resident Evil they've played, but the only shooter.  How many shooters was there in this gen alone?

Again.  Most people on here are going to have played more games.  You're on a gaming forum, and you're probably really big into gaming if you're on one.  So with as few games as those on here have played in comparison to what's out there, the average Pokemon fan has probably played far less.

I created the thread because people say Pokemon sells well because it's a great game.  Pokemon sells well because people it's a first party game that people are used to.  Mario hasn't been close to as good as it has been in the past, except maybe Super Mario 3D World, but every single game sells well regardless of quality.  Nintendo fans buy it because it's a Nintendo product and they have an inherent bias that each and every game is amazing regardless how many flaws or problems the game has.  They're weened into it.  It's the reason Nintendo releases the same tired franchises over and over and over.

So what I'm gathering from this is that you're upset because a lot of people like something you don't. 1st world problems!

Look at my collection and multiply it by two. So about 200 RPGs, most not Nintendo.

Too many, let's just say. Most on Sony consoles

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
