y it does need to worry about it's image ... Just because your at the top spot doesn't mean your out of the rat race just yet ...

All system doing bad =/= PS4 doing amazing

But the PS4 isn't doing bad, It had a better first January than the 360 or PS3 and is on track to beat them both in February.

First January

X360: 518,227

PS3: 380,096

PS4: 696,505

XOne: 301,214

February

X360: 330,928

PS3: 240,586

PS4: 282,793 (as of 2/15)

XOne: 101,702 (as of 2/15)

Can we stop with the baseless doom and gloom now?

Did it have a better first january than WII ?

You are trying too hard. The Wii enjoyed a full month of sales in Japan. And there is an article comparing total numbers for Wii and PS4 during the same period with Wii having Japan Sales and guess what PS4 was still ahead as of February 1st by 1 million. Here

http://www.vgchartz.com/article/251512/ps4-vs-wiivgchartz-gap-chartsjanuary-2014-update/

Those extra 1 million sales are from none other than the Sony fanbase. I want to know weekly numbers once the hype has died down.

Wasn't expecting Lego PS4 to outsell both X1 and WiiU versions :O. At least WiiU.

Anyone willing to compare FF sales to FFXIII-2?

XIII-2 PS3 was

Week EndingWeekWeeklyChangeTotal
04th February 2012 1 295,951 N/A 295,951

XIII-2 360 was

Week EndingWeekWeeklyChangeTotal
04th February 2012 1 122,118 N/A 122,118

So its down by a combined ~100K.

Not as bad as I was expecting, tbh. Still, it's a JRPG so we might be overtracking it.

Either way it's safe to say if FFXV delivers it is going to be jsut fine sales wise.

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

No but that was back then when Sony had no following with the PS1 and there were supply issues with the PS2 while both were riding on GOOD macroeconomic trends but this time it's hard to sell a $400 console in this day and age.

Looking at stock levels it doesn't seem hard to sell the PS4 at all. Seriously you need to stop comparing it to the Wii and then drawing conclusions from that, neither the PS1 nor PS2 sold as well as the Wii at the beginning, but they both outsold it because they managed to sell for a longer time, the same goes for the PS4, it is absolutely not necessary for it to reach weekly sales of the Wiis first year right now.

The market isn't growing ... It's retracting ...

Because it was artificially inflated by the Wii... what does that have to do with the PS4 doing well or not?

Console.... industry..... dying.....
This model does not work, wake up people!!

And guess which manufacturer will contribute the most to the coming market contraction?

At least you seem to have faced the facts, which is good news I guess. I agree that the traditional model is going out of fashion, in several senses of the word.

The same manufacturer wich expanded it to insane levels.

By selling 100m consoles, less than two of Sony's consoles that came before? It didn't really expand the market, it just inflated it for a short while.

I wasn´t talking about the Wii.

Oh. Then what was your point? There's no denying that most of the apparent "contraction" is due to Nintendo's recent fall from grace after enjoying a few short years at the top of everything.

3rd party publishers, the bread and butter of this industry, failing again and again to make a viable profit on Nintendo's consoles, while many of them enjoy massive successes on MS and Sony's.

Yet here you are saying MS and Sony are to blame. I don't get your logic.

I think third parties failed on the wii, because they didn't try to do anything. For every 100 shovel ware titles, there was one mad world or killer 7, and those were only weak attempts at best. I do agree third parties are the bread and butter, but to call them having massive success is an over statement, with developers shutting their doors like never before, with irrational games potentially being the latest. The way I see it is that the wii made some third parties a little extra cash, while the rest of them did what they were going to do anyhow, make games on the ps360. While those companies fought for market share  On an over saturated marketplace that left many bankrupt or close to it.

Only a small handful of third parties truly enjoyed massive success, activision, rock star, and left many hurting... Square enix, and a whole list of developers that closed their doors.

Don´t even bother, he won´t listen.
Long live PS!

Depends on what you mean by the PS4 "doing well" because right now it's questionable at this point.

No, right now there's absolutely nothing questionable about that, the PS4 is doing very well, period.

Ok now I know you are doing this on purpose. So extra 1 million none other than Sony Fanbase???

So where were those over 100 millions Fanbase when the PS3 launched.

And if Sony fanbase put PS4 today at 5.4 millions so what to say about Xbox One and Wii U fanbase??

And PS4 is currently the fastest selling console even compared to the Wii as of today and without Japan launch.

Tell me what more you need to know??

Now, we wait for tons of Xbox One doom articles.
